imo time to hit the reset button. no way with that defence are we going to do a treble treble, much as i would love it.just win the league and get that * board to get quality, permanent, fit and * healthy players in NOW for next seasons CL qualifiers provided we win the league no disrespect to the other clubs except huns and diet huns.. also i am sick shouting for us to bring in covering strikers and now we have 2 french strikers nowhere near 100 percent and poor griff just coming back from injury. if all 3 strikers are out we are *. ffs we could have aberdeens rooney on our bench for 4 * grand a week and he would be a bit of cover for our strikers or someone similar.we have umpteen * defenders and midfielders but 4 recognised strikers with mikey johnston not even getting a game. * this * of oh we cant keep all our strikers happy. it should be if your the * best striker and 100 percent fit you start .* simples.BR can be criticised thats a given but if he gave the board a list of players within our budget and got none then * this tory ridden board.watch them now bring in * loans to appease our shafted fans. so * angry and i feel a celts for change mark 2 in coming unless DD kicks PL balls. rant over guys. love this * team but a blind man can see the problems and we are sitting on a * leprechauns pot of gold sitting doing nothing to move our team to a higher leavel. we may still be strong but we are starting to back pedal.HH. cmon the hoops i love then so much it does * hurt.

aek will lose the playoff tie to a lesser team. now if aek get to the CL final or even win it then our defeat doesnt seem so bad but that wont happen.HH.

It was quite frustrating to see AEK able to defend in dangerous situations when we couldn't. Right after thei 2. goal we created a lot of chances, but their defenders could make timely tackles or blocks. Ours can't. Is it the Greek coaching that's better?

Anyone else love to see us with 3 of Aek defenders in our team. terrible to be put out when in reality we controlled both legs not playing to our best but overall the better team with 3 rubbish goals let in we don't deserve to go through. If Dembele played both legs I think we would've won which is also unfortunate.

I pray that we get two defenders in before the Europa and hopefully have a decent run and build for next season. Can't see it happening though...

Most painful loss in memory along with the Huns in the semi

Getting wrecked by Legia was worse, but this does hurt, because AEK were beatable. Someone should answer for us entering this tie with the central defenders we have.

We knew why we were destroyed by Legia and Rapid. The board didn’t trust RD with transfer funds. But that is looking the same with Brendan now and it’s so * disheartening.

Do we actually work on defending in training?

Thought AEK were a bang average side, but they were well organised and solid in defence.

Even this early in the season we are losing some terrible goals, the defending is brutal.

That boy Okuniwa or however you spell it is only 25. Fkn colossal at the back for them last night and last week. He's going to be a bench player once they're proper Cbs are back.

A post from denyayer thread on an AEK defender.

This totally brings a point ive been banging on about for a while ,this defender will look great in a team set up to defend , that's why a squad player can fit straight in , put him or any decent defender into our team and he will have boyata moments ,it's not so much the players its the system ,although experience counts for a lot at the level we are at ,we will always ship goals playing the way we do ,there has to be a sacrifice unfortunately, i love the way we played last night apart from the goals coceeded ,it's so dificult to get the balance right .
When we push high its great for hemming teams in and gaining back possession quickly when they are trying to clear their lines , but we are conceeding 3 quarters of the pitch to be counter attacked by any team with a bit of craft about them .
Our players are sustaining injuries by the workload and early season qualifiers trying to get up to speed too quickly and its down to how we play again .
We need to set up with more ball winning players in midfield and a leader at the back ,mcgregor had a brilliant game last night ran his heart out to ,broony brilliant ,ntcham is not a runner and makes the pressing more difficult if he doesnt cover .
Not a million miles away from having a good side that can hold their own ,a few adjustments to the team and the system and were good ,can't press the panic button and sack everyoneand undo all the good work .

we meet so many teams that know how to defend it makes the fact we can't and have not been able to for a long time more shocking...some of those team do not have our money.
And then we also have the lack of ability to cross a ball.....its always griff when he is on the pitch...its a * joke and BR can no longer blame others he has been here ;long enough to improve some of the basic errors.

Most of that true, but the difference being we tried to play out like that against top quality like PSG and Bayern and we got destroyed.

I agree, we are maybe three players away from a really decent side but will never be if we keep playing the current system

only conceded 12 goals in their whole league campaign last season and never lost a game in europa group with Milan,Austria Wein and Rijeka. drew 1-1 with Dynamo Kiev in last 32 and 0-0 reverse went out on away goals.

Hardly mugs , 2 0-0 draws with Milan.

Wish I could disagree but your spot on. AEK were a decent side but very beatable and over the 180 minutes we controlled most of the tie and had most of the chances but yet we are out because we couldn't defend a few simple balls into our box whereas their box defending was the difference for them to win the tie. Very frustrating to lose that tie to put it mildly.

Actually, as sad as I am to see us go out at this stage, I think it will be a wake-up call. Brendan Rodgers has wasted a lot of money though. We have a team, many of them Rodger’s signings, and nine of the team last night were not his signings. He’s had window after window after window to get this right. To make his team. He has failed to do so on a European level. We have regressed.

We must sign a commanding centre half and a commanding right back and a replacement for Scott Brown and this needs to happen urgently.

The set up of the current team is weak, weaker than last season. We are suspect currently in defence and we are suspect in the striking area because of injured strikers.

The next 15 days or so you could argue are the most important days of Brendan Rodgers Tenure.

Yeh it must be so dificult for players like mcgregor and forrest ,broony to ,asked to do so much pressing and coming back to defend while setting up attacks ,must take so much out you and if caught out of position and chasing back a lost cauz ,would be easy to say * it some1 else can pick him up ,thats where it all breaks down .
Our passing has been really good over the last few years but your right ,top sides will push high and catch us at the back .can we clone broony and tierney .

Dunno about that 2 x 50,000 home matches say average £20 tickets and then money from uefa would have got minimum €5m for getting put out in play-off or €2m for qualifying.

Think we stand to make a third of EL group money compared to CL group money if we get there
