It's not the appointment of a new manager itself that's the problem, but the board. Say we get Lennon back. He shapes the team up to be much tougher and we start looking like his team that beat Barcelona 2-1. Tough as * in Europe, but able to dominate domestically. I know the board would ruin everything with their greed.

Lennon quit because he was having exactly the same issues that Brendan is now.

When we talk about Lenny ever returning, i don't see how that can ever happen under this Board, remember why he left when he was manager ?

@The Prof , @paulie walnuts I agree. This is why the board is the problem. Or at least Lawwell. Under a different set-up, Brendan would do better than he is now. And so would Lennon, Clarke, Moyes or I don't know...Marcello Lippi. No use having a manager who will be sabotaged within 2 seasons of his tenure.

Didn’t stop him applying after Ronny left. Think he’d jump at the chance to come back.

Yeah but the point is he would still be a puppet to the Board.

I’d like to think if he did come back he’d make certain demands.

Then again I’m sure Rodgers did so and we still ended up with this * show of a summer..

Either that, or he would have to come in with a firm stance, demanding written assurances that he would be supported in case of positive results on the pitch, without any hindrances such as forced sales of players or forcing assistant managers upon him for no * reason.
I had thought the board wouldn't dare * with Brendan. But they are. And Lennon sees this. If we had to find a new manager, and Lennon was contacted, it would not be a quick yes/no thing.

It's either the Board's way or the Highway lol, i do think Lenny would do a good job, but effectively he would be a yes man, and that is certainly not his style.

Brendan Rodgers is a top manager, we won't do better than him. He is already a Celtic legend with his double treble. We have just made the Greek champions look pretty ordinary over 2 legs, 3 defensive errors has cost us and our missed chances in front of goal. We were the better side. Craig Gordon didnt have much to do over the 2 legs. This is purely down to lack of movement from the board to get brendans signings over the line, board should back any manager. I think brendans record speaks for itself and he deserves the right to have the board backings over any manager recently. Nobody we could possibly/afford get in to manage us that will be better than rodgers

I wonder if there is a situation where the board would be so desperate that they'd agree to have a manager run the club as he sees fit.

Til he fancied a crack down south again .. Still he could have decided to leave after a replacement for Mjallby had been agreed on ..

He fancied a crack down south because the board of Celtic FC have chased him out with their actions, even after Lennon created a strong, well-drilled unit that could both attack, and defend. This is why I'd be both happy, and sad, if Lennon were the one to replace Brendan, in case he left.
