I've always defended Lustig and I don't regret it because he was amazing for us but I think age has taken hold of him because too many times I've seen him skinned for pace.

His experience would be good if we had two good CBs but when he's a weak link in a weak chain it highlights his faults.

I just don't understand how we can buy good attacking players but we can't buy good defenders.

Hopefully Desmond goes into another rage and demands we get things sorted in defence pronto.

Isn't that what teams are supposed to do when they qualify, use the TV money to recruit so they can get back in again the next year and use the money to strengthen again and so on?

That must be £60m Brendan made in his first two historic treble winning seasons and the only brilliant defender we bought was Toure.

I understand our budget policy but it's almost becoming neurotic now, like austerity measures.

But after all that it turns out we still could have won because we do what Brendan does best second half, took off a defender and strengthened the attack.

Don't like blaming Hendry as he's fairly new but thought jozo had an appalling game also. See if we can put 2 traffic cones at centre half for the weekend. Didn't turn up till dembele came on. We looked terrified.

We're not champions league level. It's just the reality of where we are in world football in the current climate.

Too many of our fans deceive themselves into thinking we're better than we are because we run away with it domestically. I'm honestly finding it hard not to be worried about the season ahead.
