Football evolves along with the teams involved in the league. Scotland is no exception. Lawell has done a good job over the years and he has a job to do which I believe is to support the manager. He has done this well over the years minus a couple of exceptions. These exceptions seem to involve Hibs and more importantly Rod Petrie. Who I think is of very similar character, business man to Lawell. There has been clashes between the pair over transfers and SPL/SPFL matters over the years. Neither willing to back down. So come the Mcginn issue and Lawell lowballs believing he'll get him cheap in his final year and being a hoops man. It failed, and its caused Celtic embarrassment, Rodgers embarrassment.

Lawell has to balance out finances, which he does but with the money received from CL and transfers it was well feasible to purchase French Eddy, Mcginn and Schaar who had a 3m release clause, which Newcastle activated. All within our budget and reach. Rodgers is well within his rigjt to be * as it turns out he and the squad are losing out in a * measuring contest between two ego's. If your not suporting the boss or team your undermining them and thus the root of problems. I don't believe Rodgers requests have been excessive at all so why not work with him for the club and its fanbase.

Its incredible from our position of strength we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot over very little. I believe BR when he says he loves it here and will see out his next 3 years. If the next 3 years are like the last 2, then we shuould all be behind BR and the team, not looking to compete with Hibs/Petrie orand certainly not with the help of Chris Mcglaughlin. This is our most successful spell and enjoyable since probably the Stein era.

Anyway thats my 2 cents for the day. Debate is healthy and we as Celts usually do it well. A club for all.

He can complain about it because this window has been nothing short of horrendous and they way the McGinn transferee was dealt wither you wanted him or not the board made the club look * silly.

Rodgers has had to come out in public to talk about it, we all know we clearly need money spent yet we are dragging our heels yet again.

Looking back on it he gave simunovic game time to be ready for Tuesday he could have dropped hendry for a ajer though I don't know why he didn't do that as ajer isn't playing Tuesday anyway and he is the better of the two

Anyone hear anything about the meeting with Brendan and DD that went on yesterday before the team flew out ?

 

By all accounts , it went really well mate

 

Knock on wood. I expect us to be in some European competition by the end of the month, and hopefully DD has told BR that he can count on serious money for signings.

 

Desmond has pledged 500k of his own money to personally woo Steven McKenna from Aberdeen.

 

Supposedly, he's angry with PL and backing Brendan. That can only be good news for us.
