This is what annoys me with football in general we're 1 game in to the league and resting players but 2 weeks ago they weren't match fit where is the logic in that ?

This was a big game aswell though thats the problem. If we keep downsizing the importantance of league games it will one day inevitably be the reason we lose it.

He literally just said on the radio. Talk about him giving ultimatums is nonsense. He has no intention of walking and he loves his life at Celtic.

And I’d read somewhere else about walking away. I’ve got three years left on my contract here and I love every day of my life at Celtic."

All I want is for us to improve every aspect of the club. It’s a disappointing result for us. We’d a good performance in midweek and drew, but you move on in football very quickly."

Exactly mate. The league is our bread and butter and we shouldn't be resting players 2 games in

I'm as * off as anyone about the result but I'm not having it that he got the team wrong.

At the end of the day, as much as I think we're very unlikely to qualify by beating AEK, it is a far more important game than the one today. I would have been entirely happy for him to field an entire reserve 11 if it meant we were more focused and fresh for the AEK game.

I'm worried that even when we brought on our subs we still looked limp and ineffective.

it's hard to believe anything these days, but Rodgers results for us speak for themself and he deserves more then he is being given.

Surely playing your best 11 and possibly getting a win today would boost the confidence and match fitness/sharpness of the players. Yes we can argue that because they didn't play they will be fresher and all that. But our players should be fresh anyway at this early point in the season

Couldn't disagree more mate. That wasn't a good Hearts team today, if we played our strongest XI we could've won that comfortably and went into Tuesday's game with a bit of positivity.

Instead we're heading there deflated after another defensive howler.

I can't understand the decision to play Hayes, Sinclair and Griffiths up top knowing Hearts would press our backline and force us into playing it long.

That in it's self shows how our backline is *. If they were all comfortable we'd break the press and pass it up the pitch not punt it. Leaving hearts wide open for attack. Instead we played into there hands and punted it to our tiny front line instead of passing it up.

But what if we started with our best XI and an important player got injured by one of their thugs?

Thankfully none of our players got injured but I could understand why he wanted to rest them.

I do take your point about going over there with a sense of deflation though.

Playing Dembele in a dead rubber against Alashkert when we're clean through but resting untold game changers at our hardest away fixture in the league..

Keeps constantly tinkering the team as well..

    Clueless..

Not disagreeing with you but I'm sure Rodgers knows their limited capabilities and how likely it is that they put in a PSG-esque performance.

In the last game at Tynecastle he spoke about the length of the grass and the high press as being reasons for going with Dembele & Edouard up top...yet today abandon that and start pinging long wayward balls to Hayes, Sinclair and Griffiths.

That is a worry, especially the way Hearts play but he played Tierney today who has received shocking treatment over there and we have literally no replacement for him for Tuesday had he got injured.

    Personally would've went:

    Bain
    Gamboa Jozo Ajer Tierney
    Forrest Brown Rogic Ntcham McGregor
    Edouard

I hate when he says about strengthening and says “if not”.

There shouldn’t be any if not about it!! We need to do it simple as that.

We wouldn’t have to spend a lot of money on the defence to improve on Hendry, Simunovic, Lustig, Boyata and Compper.

Don’t understand why they don’t just strengthen that bit extra each season which I think would be enough to get us to the CL group stages every year. We always seem to enjoy the struggle and risk taking for some reason!!
