For what its worth I read an article recently, published in 2011. The article highlighted that at the AGM, Dermot Desmond was not present (again), which was and is still a usual occurrence.

From that its pretty clear that he has full backing from the board and Peter Lawwell. Although, his interest in us as waned quite a bit.

I wonder how often him and Lawwell communicate though, once a week maybe, less?

If he has tens of millions in us and maybe more over the years i would guess PL sends a email/report twice a week at least.
These guys with billions tend to be control freaks and no wonder.

Would rather spend £4 million on a ****ing light show than invest in the playing squad.

I heard the reason we have trouble getting players in is because Lawwell only pays for them to go one stop on the train and then hopes that they get to Celtic Park before the clicky reaches them.

The Edouard deal was made up from the Armstrong and Sviatchenko fees as well as the VVD sell-on clause.

Bain came in on a free.

Arzani is coming in on a two-year loan.

Izzy is back on a free.

If Denayer is coming back then I will be very surprised if it's on a permanent.

Roberts is meant to be coming home I'm assuming on a permanent, otherwise what's the point in another loan deal?

Why are we rummaging about in the biscuit tin for freebies and loan deals? Granted we needed back-up in GK and LB as well as another winger, but we badly needed well-stocked in RB and CB and we didn't do it.

We knew we were going to be short in those areas during the World Cup and nothing materialised, with the exception of Compper who seems to be giving Derk Boerrigter a run for his money in the 'most useless Celtic player' stakes.

I can guarantee you 100% if we even spent £10-20 million in this window that Celtic would not go bankrupt over night. Don't forget the bonuses you get for getting a win and a draw in the CL group stages, which we have achieved in Brendan's two seasons here.

Recruitment needs massively improved overall. Okay you're not going to find a Wanyama or VVD with every signing, but can we try and think outside the box instead of Man City loanees, kids from Dundee and players who've been at the club before?

Say what you will about Rangers and their spending, but they just spent £2 million on a LB they didn't even know existed up until two weeks ago. It makes the McGinn debacle even more of a riddy, considering we refused to budge on £2 million even though we had the money Hibs were asking for. We fannied about for a month and it wouldn't shock me if McGinn decided to go elsewhere because if we really needed him that badly, wouldn't we have put in a proper bid by now?

Now McGinn's at Villa and whether you wanted him at Celtic or not, Rodgers did and if he wants a player I say we go and get him. Because of that we're starting to panic that the board's tightfistedness is going to drive away the best manager we've had since MON. If you can't back Brendan ****ing Rodgers in the transfer market, then what's even the point in bothering to compete in Europe?

hated him since he refused to get Strachan Steven Fletcher and it ultimately cost us 4 in a row, never done anything to make my feeling change. I want him gone.

There’s no guarantee Fletcher would have won us the title, but I understand your annoyance at that window.

I like izzy but he is a step backwards....imo.

The club is financially the healthiest it's ever been and there's reasons to be positive, but by *, it is * frustrating to see us continue to move sideways and not be brave in the transfer market.

We've a dodgy keeper we signed on a freebie, who is advancing in age. Our idea of someone to push him? A guy Dundee and Hibs don't even fancy playing...Sorry, Scott.

We've 6 defenders on the books with Izzy maybe making it a 7th. Now, I'm a fan of Emilio's but is he an improvement? No. Is he even a sustainable option as cover? Debatable.

Lustig? Nah. I'll not waste my breath anymore as there's some absolute diehard fan's of his still out there despite his clear (to my eyes, anyway) limitations.

Gamboa - does Brendan even like him? Probably not given his appearances last season.

Boyata has his question marks. He looked totally lost in his last Old Firm appearance, albeit he'd just returned from injury, but I don't personally rate him and I would've bit your hand off for the offers we reportedly rejected.
Commper? Does he even have a shirt number? :56:

Neither Hendry or Jozo are reliable, leaving us just with Ajer who's a converted CM...

I remain optimistic about both Ralston and Miller, but will they be part of first team this season?

Who stands out in our midfield? Forrest is Forrest....is he CL quality? Probably not considering we've had a boy called Paddy Roberts knocking about the club this past couple of season's, who undoubtedly is and loves the club...so why haven't we signed him on a permanent?

Sinclair isn't reliable and is a bit one dimensional. Both wings could be improved, in my opinion.

Central midfield and our forward line are our strongest positions. Signing Rogic on a new long term deal has to be applauded and Brendan has helped McGregor and Brown reach new levels we never imagined. Also, Edouard is a clever player, with strength and composure. Hopefully Dembele and Griffiths can remain injury free to keep us free scoring, too.

So reasons to be positive....but Brendan coming out speaks volumes, I'm afraid. :54::55:

He’s only coming in as cover. Good deal.
