[Matchday] UCL Qual R3: Celtic v AEK Athens Wednesday 8th August 7.45pm KO.....result 1-1

Hi there, I'm the AEK fan again.

Very nice result for us with passion especially after the red card (maybe a little controversial though), but I think you are overreacting a little bit. If before tonight's match the chances were 70-30, now its an even 50-50 in my opinion. I don't remember much from Celtic's away matches in Europe (except the one against that Gibraltar team), but in any case you are obviously capable o scoring 1 more than us in Athens.

On top of that, our captain is ruled out from the 2nd match too, this kid Galanopoloulos was sent off and will be absent, Chygrynskiy propably won't make it either. and will lost Boye in the warm-up of today's match. And the biggest problem in my opinion is that the game will be played in 14/8, and the 15th is a holiday for us in Greece, so there won't be many fans in the stadium because evereyone is on vacation this week of the year. So there will be around 30.000 fans in OAKA instead of 50.000-55.000 that would have been if the game was played today.

Not having seen many matches of Rodger's Celtic, I personally saw that:
- Ajer is a decent player, but maybe better as a defensive midfielder
- That guy Hendry is really laughable
- Tierney could easily become the best left wing back in the world in 5-6 years
- Ntcham's direct and quick pass was amazing, really great today I think


Looking forward to the 2nd leg. It's really a shame that not only this wasn't a group stage match (could easily be), but also the winner of the tie must play another round to qualify! Disgusting. CHAMPION league with 10 champions in 32 teams, at least have the courtesy to rename your * "Villareal vs Hoffenheim" league.

 

Seriously lads you all need to take some happy pills. The forum has been like a series of loose women the last week or so. AEK were average, they got a lucky goal and done * all else. We could have and should have been better but we move on and I fancy us beating them next week.
26 shots tonight for us, if we match that out there we should score at least one.

 

This looks * terrible. BR is not going to be happy that board are briefing the BBC on how they are annoyed at him. Was listening to radio other night as well and that wee boy from OZ we have taken in wasnt BR's decision and he actually distanced himself from the move when asked. That does not look good, we shouldn't be forcing players on a manager like BR.

Couldn’t make it out on the stream, that’s a brilliant banner. * uefa! 2 giants of European football playing in the 3rd qualifying round of the champions league, ridiculous.

Huge ask now. It's only half time in the tie but I do think it will take a heroic performance next week. Annoyingly thought we were overallthe better team on the night but they defended very well.

Our transfer policy is baffling. We're sitting on a fortune and while I understand the need to put money by for a rainy day, we're sleepwalking towards disaster not strengthening our defence. It's bordering on criminal. It's not cheap supporting the club but we do it because it's everything to us. We're being taken for mugs.

I should've recorded myself 2 years ago saying we need to sign a quality CB and RB and play it every window...save my breath instead of banging that drum every time.

but WE knew this side were a nightmare to breakdown, we knew this side were dangerous on the break

and most importantly we KNEW we were so short on quality at the back that this would come back to punish us.

we're paying the price for lack of vision and investment at the back

and as far as I can see BR is as much to blame for the tragedy that is our defense as any board is.

You cant prepare for CL qualifiers by bringing in NOTHING on the full back positions and a crocked has-been alongside a league one journey man and expect to attack your way into the group stages
