Seeing reports we've also matched villa's 23k a week wage deal for him, not so sure about that, but brendan knows best.

I think we were always gonna go back in when hearing Brendan talking earlier about the player deciding..

Hibs could still point blank refuse and be * though..

    I don't think we'd offer him 23 straight up..

Matching the bid and 15+ is very fair. If he was still to choose Villa in the Championship over 8 or so grand then it says a lot..

There is absolutely zero chance we will pay McGinn 23k a week basic.

    Literally zero.

I'd definitely take him for the rumoured £2.75m.

If we sign him, I'd be delighted. The way Rodgers was talking seemed defeatist. Hopefully it sent a rocket up Pedro's *.

He made it crystal clear he wanted the player. Definitely a like for like replacement of Armstrong with the potential to be better and stay for longer here.

... Depending on if the reports being true and he comes here instead of Villa.

That's a good point, if the lad picks an inferior team going nowhere over his boyhood club and 8k then his heart isn't in the right place imo.

We aint getting him, that bird has flown the nest, lets put a bid in for anotther player we wont get.

The sad thing is Mc Ginn was improving weekly. If PL was that hard up i would have gave him a loan of £100k , we could have worked out a payback plan over a 12 month period

Could be the reason why his medical wasn't done today. Could have pulled a 180 on the motorway on the way down.

This whole saga reminds me of the girl you were pumping but didn't want to be your girlfriend because you thought she wasn't good enough. Then another bloke comes along, shows an interest and all of a sudden she is the love of your life and you start chasing after her!

There were more negative comments on here about him than there were positive. Now looking at comments, it's like we're losing out on signing Iniesta.

I personally would have liked him to sign because he's a great Scottish player who gives 100% every single game.

I really wish Celtic would * off this biscuit tin mentality. They knew Hibs were never going to take £ 2Million for him.
The fukin huns paid £2.1million for a player they only saw twice

If we have FINALLY bid for McGinn and matched Villa's offer, then McGinn will know exactly WHERE he's wanted.

Come to a stable club competing in Europe, or a * no mark club in financial and general instability.

    The choice is yours, John.

Sad * state of affairs it's come to this though when it could have been done instead of banking on a cheap deal or waiting until January to get him for * all.

    * I * hate this club at times.

John McGinn was last night weighing up his options over a move to either Celtic or Aston Villa after both clubs put deals on the table for the Scotlandmidfielder.

The Hibernian player spent the day in Birmingham as he entered into dialogue with the Championship side and had a look around the facilities at the club.

Having had three bids for the player turned down by Hibs this summer, Celtic are believed to have matched the offer and personal terms – £23k per week - made by Villa for the 23-year-old former St Mirren player.

Hibs had insisted that Celtic had not met their valuation of the player with their trio of offers but the Parkhead side returned with a deal that was in keeping with the Leith club’s estimation this week.

It is now down to the player to decide where he wants to play his football. Sources close to McGinn intimated that privately he felt as though there would be greater scope of playing regular first-team football with Villa than there would be at Celtic, although as the clock ticked last night he had not put to paper on a deal.

It is understood that McGinn’s representatives had spoke to Celtic this weekend with the Parkhead club confident then of getting the deal over the line before the closure of the transfer window.

However, with Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish a target for Tottenham this summer McGinn has been identified as a potential replacement ahead of Thursday’s English deadline.

And Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made no attempt to disguise his thoughts on the matter as McGinn weighed up his options.

"If you open your door to players in general and they have an opportunity to go through that door and have a look and see that there are other good clubs with facilities and are equal – and probably better – than what is here, then you risk the chance of them not coming back though the door,” he said. “That is the gamble you take if you wait.

“I just wanted quality. We weren’t needing a huge overhaul here this summer. For me it was pretty straightforward.”

Well done to Lawwell for playing a shrewd game and matching the bid.

ANd if the rumoured matching of wages is true.... cost us a load in the long run.

I’ve said all summer this is a * measuring contest with Petrie and Lawwell. Rod’s just whipped out a shlong here :56:
