The window down here shuts in 2 day's. The likelihood is we'd of been in for him again with another offer before our window closed..

Now he's going to a lower league club. Probably just bounce about down there picking up bigger wages..

I think it's hilarious considering he was supposedly dying to come to us..

Or else tou’ve got agents in your ear telling you you’re knocking back life changing sums for something that isn’t gguarenteed at all, there’s no certainty we’d be interested in January, they’d be telling him that, they’d be pointing out seriously, how interested are we just nowc we’re sticking in insulting bids for jim, how much doe we actually respect him as a footballer if that’s the way we’re approaching business with him.

He’ll have all his mates in his club wanting him to move so they can get a cash boost in, mentors who he owes his career to so far wanting him to do so as well, so the club can be successfull. He’ll have everybody around him pressuring him into leaving, and leaving for cash that we areb’t prepared to offer. * we can’t even approach the concept of signing him seriously we were clearly at it.

It’s very, very easy to shove a players thoughts in that direction especially be ause of how we’ve acted, I imagine he has a sense of loyalty to Hibs as well. It’s not all about supporting a club, you need to show that the club supports you. It’s why Leigh Griffiths plays for Celtic, not Hibernian.

Don't blame Mcginn at all he's probably going to earn 5x the wages he's on at Hibs maybe more, Celtic had all summer to buy him and didn't when there were no competing offers then a club comes in and offers an absolutely ridiculous wage packet, he'd be stupid to turn it down, his career could be * at any time and he might never see that kind of cash again.

He will know, Brendan wanted/wants him. His pal Broony wants him in. That's only publicly as well so you can go much further in private..

What about Hibs loyalty to McGinn then I he so badly wanted this dream move? He went down a league to join them and has served them well for getting him for pretty much fuckall..

Big difference coming for 15/20 from 2 or so. 2 isn't life changing money. 15/20 a week still is....as well as 40/50 or whatever Villa would throw at him..

 

It's the money Championship teams can dangle on a string incase of promotion.

Celtic would probably have wanted to bring McGinn in on £8-10k a week, Villa can probably offer £15k but the thing with Villa is they will be saying his wages will be tripled if they get promoted and he'll get a £1million bonus for being promoted as well.

When people are offered money like that nobodies turning it down, especially as looking at Villa you'd say they have a very good chance of being promoted, it's probably 50/50.

 

He’ll know that we are willing to put in * bids for him just now and others are willing to go the full hog for him. If our desire to have him here just now is that tenous then how can we possibly blame him for being unsure if it’d still be there in January? Plus, short career mate, you need to take opportunities when given, he’s one bad injury away from everything being * and with the way he plays and tackles he has recieved in Scotland that is a very easy thing to happen.

I wouldn’t even think that’s agents bein * either, thats good advice. Take yhe better offer on the table just now, instead of the promise of a maybe offer in 6 months to a years time.

 

McGinn would be * stupid to hang around until January in the hope we return, especially with potentially 10-15x his wages on the table.

Anything can happen in those 6 months, how many times do you hear "I'll sort you out for a job", fitbas no different, needs to do what's best for himself.

 

Being a footballer is a relatively short career so he'll want to make money but have a successful career at the same I'm sure if Celtic came in with an acceptable offer for Hibs and offered McGinn league titles but on less money than Villa he'd sign for us

I mean more the fact if he wasn't/isn't willing to sit tight for a very short period when all the talk was about that. Lenny even alluded to the fact it had got to McGinn..

He must know how close he'd be to get his move..

Villa are a big club. I wouldn't say they have a chance of 50/50 getting straight up though so it'll be a gamble..

Then what...bouncing about the championship on a good wage because you're no really going anywhere? That's what will most likely happen..

I think he’d rate himself at being better than the Championship as well, and if so, bumoing around on £20k - £40k for ten years or so isn’t a bad second prize.

Bottom line is, we’ve * this situation up. Blaming McGinn to not gamble on us coming back in for him in January is * for me. We’re the architecths of this situation.

 

I'm no even talking 6 month's though..

We're in a unique situation where the window shuts early down here and he knows we want him. We'd have came back in and got a deal done..

He held all the aces. Window closing early here and free to sign for whoever he liked in 6 month's. Could've put in a transfer request to try and push a move through if Hibs weren't willing in 3 day's..

We have gambled on no one coming in it seems but if the player really wants it....it could be done in this window in my opinion..
