Anyone think maybe just maybe some agent of an EPL centre mid has phoned Brendan on the QT and said my guy is available for X amount once the window closes and maybe Brendan rates this guy higher than McGinn? Need to trust the board on this one. Lenny has been pimping McGinn out all over the papers up here and any hibs fans I have heard said McGeough was the better player last season.

Nah, Brendan spoke openly about wanting the player in and weve made 3 low bids to then lose out on one of his targets doesn't sit well with me, Regardless if you rate McGinn or not it's a player Brendan wants.

Brendan has talked this boy up for two years and is clearly the player he wanted in the long term CM position . He has asked the board to go and get him. They have low balled Hibs and now the lad is in Birmingham to sign for Villa. Can see him being worth silly money in a year or two and us going "if only".

 

We lost what 16 goals in the group stage. You have to factor in also we didn't score many. Hopefully this season we can score more goals in Europe and that should mean we'll improve, but a lot depends on first qualifying, then getting a good draw. Also have to factor in we've been handed the group of death two years on the bounce. Pretty much youth against experience. Now we're a year more experienced, the guys from the world cup look far more confident and that comes from experience. But it's been as much a tactical thing.

You could clear out all the defenders, buy some more and end up in the same position.

However i think we know we need to strengthen all areas, but i'd prioritize back up for Tierney, while others might want a centre back which is the more obvious one talked about in the media. Just comes down to the budget, without knowing what that is, the whole thing becomes a guessing game.

Boyata goes then signing a top class defender becomes the number 1 priority, but he's finally ran off the puppy fat
and looks ready, but that is the way i'd go. Boyata goes, centre back, left back and right back. Tierney's started going into daft challenges and it's maybe an issue if he picks up a injury. So Boyata stays then i'd make that my priority.

However it looks as though maybe we'll get the guy from West Brom, but i don't know that much about him.

Tough game tonight against AEK i guess that will be a big indicator to whether the defense can develop quickly enough, but i think Rodgers would like an experienced pro in and nobody would argue about that.

What happened to Villa being skint? A few weeks ago there was talk about them doing a rangers but now they have money for McGinn and have bid £6M for a Bristol City player.

 

This would be no loss. Time will be the judge of that but I'm not convinced McGinn is moving to Villa and will drive them back to the Premier League.

 

Selling Jack Grelish and replacing him with John McGinn is like us selling moussa dembele and replacing him with Louis Moult!
