This is starting to sound more plausible tbh.

were 1/20 on to win the title and have only made 1 signing who was here last season , the huns have made 10 new ones but mostly loanees it says it all of where the 2 clubs are at this present time but standing still is stagnating.

We will have 2 lists of targets.

List A: players who we can go for if we make champions league

List B. Players for Europa League .

Guaranteed list B is full of Comppers.

Board know we blindly buy tickets regardless and will win the legaue as is already. Shameful really. Even if those * make up 1pt on us this season we have failed

It's not exactly surprising we've not signed many players, as many have mentioned we've got a bigger carrot to dangle once we qualify for CL and can hopefully attract a better quality player/players. It's also some pretty basic business and economics

You would think so, but it's not really been the case for us. Someone posted the other day and proved it to be bollocks. Last year after we qualified we got Paddy and Eddy on loan. Fair enough.

But in the previous 3 seasons in which we qualified for the CL we signed the likes of Ambrose, Pukki, Lassad, Gamboa, Miku etc.

To me, it makes more sense to sign the players we need before the qualifiers, giving us the best possible chance to make the group stages.

The CL money has jumped so massively in the last couple of years though I think we can afford better players than those mentioned, once we know we've qualified. Players like Pukki and so on I think would have signed anyway, and were within our budget at the time regardless of qualifying.

As above, the champions league carrot thing is bollocks. Most players won't come for 6 games a season alone. If they won't sign before they probably won't sign for that reason.

I think it's used as another excuse.

Speculate to accumulate would be my mantra. Particularly with the quality if sides we come up against in the qualifiers...a few more.players like Ntcham and Edouard could make it a walk in the park.

    You need to change bookies.

1/10 with the vast majority. 2/15 available on the exchanges

Dinny worry lads... we'll just have to make do with Nir Bitton as a centre half this season. IF we qualify for champions league (which we won't) i'm sure the Barcelona's of this world will be * themselves from Bitton, Hendry and simunovic . Either that or we could scare them with a light show at half time when we're 5-0 doon!
I love what Rodgers has done here so far but he won't stay here unless he is backed by the board. This is getting ridiculous now!

There's a big thing about having a settled squad and thats why were odds on favourites going for 8 without making many additions but you must always look to improve.

We WILL qualify for the Champions League and i think a couple of very sensible signings will take place as well.

how much do fans expect to spend every season after player sales have been accounted for? £6m-£10m?, £11m-£15m? £16m-£20m.

With nearly every manager there is always this issue about fans expecting us to spend money becuase our accounts say we are rolling in it, but what are we honestly expecting?

Arguably spending £10m-£15m every season puts our finances in a precarious position which makes CL qualification critical to balancing the books which is something we can't afford to risk especially if we have to * about with 4 qualifying rounds.

Personally it's a little frustrating that defence hasn't been seen as a priority but anyone who knows Rodgers career knows unfortunately it's a position he doesn't do so well in.

Celtic are damned if they do and damned if they don't either way in our current situation it's difficult to really get any solid high quality consistent investment.

We don't need to spend it every season but we need it this season. Then you build on it with another one or two each season, barring sales.

If we got a centre half and right back, then manage to keep all our current starters, you only need to add one or two to freshen the squad.

Your narrow mindedness is showing through here. Brendan did say he’s waiting on quality, no doubt he’s identified the players he wants, with the assistance of his Scouts and coaches. It’s then down to the board to deliver that. Compper by all means was a good defender. If our medical team missed something on the medical I wouldn’t hold Brendan responsible for that.
It’s just not as simple as Brendan spotting a defender, if it was we’d all be in the game. I know a good defender when I see one, I doubt Brendan is any different

CB and RB for a total of £11m-£15m, and we are actually fine with the rest of the squad even after the bad CB-s are let go- the club must have the money somewhere to fill in these 2 holes.

Completely agree, we need at least one quality CB and a RB. What annoys me the most is that I said the exact same thing at the start of last season and nothing has been done to address the problem. Rodgers has done a great job strengthening our midfield and attack, but surely he's not going to let all his good work go to waste if we are leaking goals at the back. We can get away with it in Scotland but will get found out in Europe, just as we did last season.
