It's possibly what he says but it's clear as day it's bullshit. Actions speak louder than words as they say. The offer can't have been that derisory given that he said he was about to sign it....3 months after it had been offered!

"Joe Ledley says he was planning to sign a new Celtic deal when they accepted a bid from Crystal Palace.

The Welsh international, whose deal was due to expire in the summer, sealed a January deadline day move to the Premier League outfit.

"They (Celtic) offered me a contract and I was actually planning on signing," the midfielder told BBC Wales.

"I spoke to Palace and, for me, it was the right time to go."

Ledley, 27, moved to Glasgow under freedom of contract in 2010, following six years at hometown club Cardiff City.

I thought it was right for myself and for the club for me to move on and show the world, hopefully, what I can do in the Premier League

    Joe Ledley
He helped Celtic win three league titles and last year's Scottish Cup.

But, after penning a three-and-a-half year deal at Selhurst Park, he said he was relishing playing in the "best league in the world".

"I enjoyed every moment at Celtic and it's a fantastic club. It will always be with me in my heart," said Ledley.

"I was sat there on deadline day and it came through that the club had accepted a bid. I just thought that it was right for me to go.

"When a club accepts (an offer) then, obviously, they want some money.

"So, I thought it was right for myself and for the club for me to move on and show the world, hopefully, what I can do in the Premier League.

"It was tough. I had the Champions League for a long time and won medals; then you're getting a bit older and at my age - hitting your potential - and I thought it was time for me to play in the Premier League."

He wanted to go and was within his rights to not sign a contract. But the attempt to dress it up as Celtic doing something wrong are laughable. This was a guy who walked out on his boyhood club on a free.

3 months after it had been offered, 15 months after he’d been chasing for a new extension to keep him with us. He wanted to stay, he was going to take the wage cut and we accepted the bid. His fanily loved it up here and that was more important than the money.

We done the same to Samaras in that time then took the deal off the table altogether, despite the fact Lenny was desperate for him to stay.

Fanciful nonsense. I loved Ledley as a player and he has every right to look after himself but if you're going to do that don't insult our intelligence with the 'poor me, big, bad Celtic act'.

If he had wanted to stay he would've signed the contract that had been available for 3 months. The earlier Lennon quote shows that they had chased up a response and had nothing back. A further 6 weeks elapsed until we reached the last day Celtic could get a return on him and they accept a bid rather than lose him for nothing....and now he wants to sign? It's nonsense.

Like I said believe me or not, I do see where you’re coming from though with the 6 weeks, from that I’d say he waited 15 months on an answer from us. We allowed it to get to that stage in the first place by thinking we’d just accept any derisory offer we gave him just because he wanted to be there.

That’s the last I’ll say on it mate, it’s just the version of events I know to be trye from Ledley’s camp’s point of view anyway.

And it squares up to me the way we treat guys who want to stay. It’d be like us offering Forrest a wage cut jusy now and being pure shocked when he takes time to mull it over.

Yeah I get that. McGinn himself will rather Hibs and Saint mirren get money, compared to leaving for nothing. All that being said though, him when Hibs both let the contract run down and ultimately force the ‘low offer’.
We’re never offering 4 million for a player we can get for free in 6 months, and rightly so. This is as much Hibs’ fault as it is Lawell’s.

The player and money should be kept in the Scottish game ,If Brighton are in we better be too and get the deal done this time.

... this was always the danger and we come to regret not paying the money early doors.
A bidding war will now only increase his value and Hibs now have the upper hand here.

A few of our fans had a bit of a naive, self entitled attitude by believing that we had the advantage in the situation over Hibs. We will do well to secure him for less than £3m now. If better was availible for around the same money, i believe we would be looking elsewhere.

So the club were willing to give an 31 year old commons an extension and upgrade on pay but couldn't with ledley who was younger I find that entirely hard to believe might have been derisory that for the player to decide but I don't believe the bull that the club offered less than he was on

Is he way better than Christie? Not being sarcastic as I have only see him play against us and looked decent. But Ryan Christie had good games against us and seemed to be consistent for ICT.

I’d say he’s comfortably better than Christie with much higher potential too.

Like I said, people can believe what they want but we done the exact same thing with Samaras.

Commons was after there was outrage about * like that, the fans were going bonkers under Ronny and interfering had already bit them on the * with Lenny
