I think him only having 11 months on his contract was the main reason tbh.

No one knows Brown/Forrests stance in regards to contract talks, a player goes into contract negotiations with a bigger bargaining chip the longer it rambles on. It could be either party holding things up.

I'm not particularly happy with the way we are going about our summer, but I don't really have many qualms with our contract situations. Ajer signed up, KT signed up, Rogic signed up - Forrest and Brown will follow.

There's a very good chance this is agent/Hibs fed stories trying to get Celtic to flap and produce the £3.5-4m Hibs want. Basic supply and demand.

You’re free to think that mate of course I just think through the years that’s how Peter Lawwell has operated - sometimes it has definitely worked, it did with the likes of Lenny but it’s bit us in the * at times and I think it’s the approach he’s taking just now.

It could be but I think it’s just because he’s a cracking wee player tbh. It was always going to happen.

    James Forrest is going nowhere.

John McGinn is one we've gave our final bid for, if they accept it all well and good. If not he'll have a decision to make on whether or not to go elsewhere or hang fire until December.

I personally can see us picking him up in December for less than a million and, for me, that would be the best result for everyone because we don't have a pressing need for him in the Champions League qualifiers.

I can’t see him going anywhere either but that’s the only reason we didn’t sort a contract in January I think, same with Broony. I’d prefer if we didn’t let it get to that stage though.

We just don't know who is calling the shots, it's not abnormal for a player to shelf contract plans and concentrate on their game.

The fact that it's Scott Brown who has admitted he will retire here and James Forrest who still lives with his maw probably speaks volumes, it seems like a situation everyone is content with.

Ajer/Rogic/Dembele wouldn't actively be left until the last year, the club knows what it's at. You're basically saying how shrewd Lawwell is, he knows the score here

Mate, at the end of the day, somecunt has leaked the info. It's either an agent or Hibs themselves. Someone wants a reaction.

Do you think they two are purposefully running down their contracts then?

Not saying you mate but some seem to think because he wants to play for us we should use that. Personally I think that's unfair on both the player and, to a lesser extent, the selling club tbh. I know as a business/Club we want to get a player as cheaply as possible but I think there is some things we shouldn't rely on to do that.

No, I just think everyone is content in their situation. Brown knows there will be a renewal on the table, as does Forrest.

    * me 142 pages. Just pop in sparingly as transfer talk purely makes me feel knackered and uninterested.
It used to be what I watched out for all summer. But then you were getting snippets here and there on the grape vine. Or phoning the Celtic hotline 3/4 times a day. My parents * cracked at that because it cost so much. But now with the internet everyone’s a specialist in the market. And the amount of traffic and speculation has turned me off. Very tired CSC.:90:

Still see this myth continually repeated. Joe Ledley had an offer on the table for MONTHS and chose not sign it. Then once Celtic accepted an £800k on the final day of the January transfer window had the audacity to say he was just about to sign it.

    Here's a quote from Lennon on 20th December 2013:

Asked if it was becoming more likely they would leave as time went by without an answer, Lennon replied: "The honest answer is, realistically, yes."

The 26-year-old Ledley joined Celtic from Cardiff in 2010 and has been linked with a return to the club who have since been promoted to England's top flight.

Samaras has been in Glasgow since originally moving on loan from Manchester City in 2008 and speculation has also linked the 28-year-old with clubs in Europe.

Lennon said the club were still waiting to hear back from the pair.

"The ball is all very much in their court," said the manager. "It's getting to the point where there will be a lot of speculation.

"We've made it clear that we are willing to speak them and we have spoken to Joe already on the situation, but we've heard nothing back.

"The contracts are up in the summer and they are two players we don't want to go, but we can't force them to stay.

"We are doing everything we can at the minute to do that.

"We have had no indication either way of what the players want to do.

"It's a difficult situation for us and for them. We spoke to both of them personally a while back but had nothing back since."

It’s not a myth, this one I know for a fact. Choose to believe it or not.

We had tabled one for months though but it was derisory, it was a wage cut, he’d been asking for one for about a year to 18 months and was being brushed off. He was still going back and forth with the club when the bid was accepted and realised he really wasn’t wanted.

Like I said mate, either believe it or not I’m not too concerned either way but I know this is a fact - at least from Joe Ledley’s point of view.
