Seems to me now that nothing will happen until after the English window closes.

Hopefully it isn't because we are solely looking down there, but more the fact it could help us get other targets abroad who are attracting interest from English clubs, too.

I can see the sense in waiting now but once again we haven't prepared well for these qualifiers. Would be nice for once just to get players in nice and quickly. I know it isn't as easy as that but jesus christ it is frustrating.

Aye, the lack of activity has been frustrating. Edouard is a fantastic signing, of course, but he's all there is to shout about...despite the obvious need for defensive reinforcements.

In addition, I think if we are going to make a step up to the next level we will need a top keeper.

I do believe we are waiting until the English window closes because there will probably be a lot of good players that don't make the 25man squad we could.pick up at a reasonable price.

I also wonder once the English window closes if transfer fees will be a bit more normal and not as * up.

we are gonna get a man city or bayern munich if we qualify we all know that already we definitely will get a tier 1 club and the tier 2's now are not that much worse

so not spending £6m to £10m on a decent cb and rb because we might face billionaire teams is just an absolute nonsense deflection, we will for sure face billionaire teams but we for sure will be hamstrung and embarrased more if we dont fix the line up

if we buy them and we dont qualify then we can sell them or others in the squad to decrease our spend and numbers

there for sure is celtic boardroom people in amongst the celtic support spreading * tighty * biscuit tin mentality approaches to what should be an obvious goal and this is to fix the line up of the team and where it is in particular quite weak

We have gave Rogic a new 5 year deal,Tierney not long in signing a 6 year deal , Ajer ,looking to give potentially Forrest,Dembele',Boyata new deals that all costs money too rather than sell them were trying to keep our best players, wich you have to offer more money.

I'm very happy with our squad middle to front.. keeping our good players is vital to going forward. BUT.. here it comes, but our defence is a worry and has been for a long time now.

KT is solid but we need someone to cover and give the guy a rest sometimes. Ajer i really like but he is young and has plenty to learn until he is anywhere near the finished article. All others are good on their day... we just have to hope that the day in question is one when we are actually playing football.

If we go into this season without adding to our defence then i can't see us getting a treble.

Disappointing if we are waiting until our UCL fate is determined before investing, wrong way to go about it.

This might well be the case mate, I hope not. It seems like a very risky strategy if it is. I don't really think it will affect fees too much, if at all. If we are looking at any targets down south clubs might actually be reluctant to sell as they couldn't get replacement in. Unless of course it's players that are completely surplus at their current clubs or prospects that clubs are looking to loan out. Surely, though, in both cases that could easily be done when the English window is still open. One upside is, it does take away any potential rivals from the championship for a player if we are looking abroad.

Tbh I think it might just be another line of patter to be used.

" we need to do our business in january"

" ach, January window is a * up market"

"Hopefully we get them in early for the qualifiers"

" Well the club's still really on holiday"

" we've got enough for the early qualifiers"

    * "we're waiting until the English window closes" *

    * "It only gave us three weeks to identify and conclude deals"*

"We're waiting to see if we make the group stages to determine what players we bring in"

" the bargains are to be had nearer/on deadline day"

    " we tried"

If I remember correctly, Rodgers had not much to say about signings at Liverpool? Wasn’t there like a * committee for that there?

And we have scouts and staff to do the searching, but I do absolutely agree that our defence has been terrible for a long time and it would be a * disgrace if that is about to continue.

We are really good from the middle to attack. The best we have had in a long time in fact, and if our defence would become the counterpart of that, we would be a force to reckon with.

Defence leaks goals in Europe. Against Bayern away it was sloppy defending that gave them two goals. Same against Zenit away. Season before gave cheap goals away to BM and Man City. It's been a glaring issue for * knows how long but the board does not and will not appear to invest in that area. Jack Henry and Marvin sick note weren't the answer. The board trying to fix it on the cheap

Funnily enough I'm just watching the Bayern at home highlights on youtube and it was a brain fart from the defence that * us for the first goal there too.

Boyata not challenging for the ball and letting it bounce.

That's the thing with him...you know he has that in him. Simple mistake.

Only have Edouard as our new signing for season opener on saturday , the old saying if it aint broke why fix it comes to mind!
Still expected at least another couple of signings in by now as you always need to improve each season and freshen up the squad with 3 or 4 additions or you can become complacent.

I think if we go through to next round which is likely now we will be better defence wise against athens than we were against rosenborg let's not forget bendtner is quite tall and a physical nuisance for hendry wont be the same for Athens

Fair point but when we drop into europa we need to add quality if we want to compete .
