I do prefer Rogic personally in behind the strikers but wee CM is great at picking up pockets of space. Although he's in possession of the Jersey at the mo. Not a fan of him dropping back though as I think he doesn't offer decent defensive play and is pretty easily shoved off the ball.

Said it before and I’ll say it again, the Scottish Xavi.

His time at County definitely played a huge part for him. Huge player for us nowadays.

Credit to him as well. Vs Legia Warsaw in the first leg he was a class act out wide. Before long, teams began to suss out his play style and he was ineffective out wide. Reinvented himself again as a central midfielder and now he's mr.consistent.

Going to be key for us along with Brown and Ntcham on Wednesday. However he's shown he's incredibly reliable.

I think it was clear he was always a central player. Ronny had a * of a thing for playing central players outwide, Armstrong, Mcgregor, * even Griffiths as an inside forward sometimes.

He’s my favourite player in the squad and has been for about 2 years now. Hopefully Scotland keep leaving him out, he’s too good for that shower of *.

Not really like Xavi, Xavi dictates a game and operates in deeper areas. You rarely see McGregor spraying the ball about, he's more about one touch in forward areas, getting the ball turning and running. Xavi's wee pal would be a better comparison.

His game in and around the box, if I was to compare to someone else, is like a young Arsenal Frabregas. Doesn't have the dictating qualities or power he did, but has more pace.

Xavi's best success came from when Pep asked him to play further forward, though.

If anyone in the team was to be compared to Xavi, it would be Ntcham for me. Dictates from deep, skilful, gets forward and is always available and in space outside the box. Poor mans obviously.

McGregor is a more nimble and quicker type of player, McGregor releases the ball outside the box and his first thought is to break lines. That's what I mean about Fabregas, it's what you seen him do especially when he became the focal point of the team after Henry. Spearheading attacks from midfield.

I get what you mean, but 'the Scottish Fabregas' doesn't have the same ring to it. :giggle1:

The Scottish lovechild of Xavi, Iniesta and Messi would be a more appropriate and not at all exaggerated comparison. For me.

I’ve always thought he plays a bit like Iniesta.

Was laughed at for suggesting it a few seasons ago.

I agree, same strengths and plays in the same manner. Fantastic at receiving the ball and turning with it.

Aye. Certainly more like Iniesta than Xavi imo.

He's definitely more in the mould of an Iniesta, you don't see McGregor pinging cross field passes or putting the ball over the top at all really, which Xavi was the master at.

He is quick and nimble like an Iniesta but has a game in and around the box which is like a young Fabregas.

Obviously it's on a poor mans level, but if you combined those two you'd have a near GOAT as Iniesta was never a double figure scoring CM, so it's class for us to have a youth product in which parallels can even somewhat be drawn or discussed.

CM: We know exactly what threat they pose and we’ve been preparing for it all week so we’re ready to come here and get a result.

CM: “We need to come here and see the job out, but in these ties you can never rule out an early goal which can change the game, so we’ve prepared well, and we just have to try and draw on that experience from last year and try and get a positive result.

CM: "Everything is familiar. We’ve been here before – same hotel, same stadium – so we know what we need to do here to come and get a result

CM: "We know how good they are, with the goal they scored from a counter-attack. We now when they ball turns over, they’re very quick – they have two quick wingers and good strikers, and something we’ll need to protect against.”

CM: “The club has been in the #UCL the last few seasons. Make no mistake, it’s a hard process to go through as you play against some good teams, but this group with the manager, we are confident if we prepare properly and play well then we can be there as well.
