Don't agree with that at all mate, we've offered a fair price for a Hibs player in the last year of his contract.. he's unproven at our level...

We got a great price for Armstrong but that's the Epl for you..

Allan’s out yer * mate, that’s just what fans have been saying.

We went in with £1.5m or something. To put that in perspective Jermaine * Pennant was bought for £500k more than that when he was 15 man.

See if we went in with a fair valuation first? Nae bother. I think most people here were saying aye £2.5m plus a player (Allan) would be fair when this first came about.

I really think it’s a * measuring contest between Petrie and Lawwell. They have previous for this.

Fair yeah I'd go along with that. £2m is certainly not insulting though.

Probably is to them if from the start they have stated £4m and we have went £1.5m, £1.75m, £2m.

He's their player and they are free to value him whatever they feel, we cant be the big bollocks putting prices on players that aren't ours. Seen someone saying it's the kind of attitude the English have coming up here trying to nab a player on the cheap - Spot on.

If the clubs cant find an agreement, then it is what it is, we walk away and January beckons. Hibs are within their right to stand their ground, despite what we think is a grossly overpriced player.

Totally agreed mate. I'm not saying Hibs are obliged to take our offer. All I'm saying is £2m is not insulting for a guy with a year left on his deal. If Armstrong had a year left on his deal we'd have only got £3-4m for him and rightly so. And he's much more proven than McGinn.

Armstrong did have a year left on his deal, and we got much more than that..

Well it looks like I'm talking utter bollocks then, carry on :56:

A year left on his deal and we got £7m? Not bad. I suppose English sides are never going to be waiting 12 months for the sake of saving £7m so they're a bit of an outlier.

I don’t think it is, our first two were though, how can we expect people to take the SPFL seriously (and that includes us) when we don’t even do it?

True. I do agree we should have went in with a £2.5m offer off the bat. Would've kept relations good between the clubs.

Reminds me a little of when we were getting GMS and Armstrong signed though. People on here we're going mad at us low balling them but it paid off in the end. We got the pair for much less than people on here we're hoping we would "just offer them £x amount".

Hibs chose to make it public Petrie is the type you go in with an opening bid of £2m he'd want more.. he'd see that as opening gambit however fair..

We owe Hibs or Lenny nothing when it comes to transfer business & tbf they owe us nothing either even tho we have loaned them a lot of players..

McGinn is in the last year wants to come, we hold all the cards it's Hibs who will lose as PL has a massive *..:56:

Peter Lawwell is one of the best in the business at negotiations he will do it his way and if not we will just walk away lets be honest another season at hibs wont do him any harm....

Or else it’ll happen like the last time this happened, a Premiership club comes in, offers a fair valuation, a lot more money and Hibs shuffle him out of a club with a fanfare i.e. the full Fletcher situation.

Look I know it’s good when it works, my problem is us gambling. Saying that, they’ve played there hand by playing him in Europe so we need to continue down this route now, it just annoys me the way we * about at times.

Which results in a lot of ‘we tried our hardest but it just fell through’

    I don’t like the attitude.

    I don't get how we're disrespecting Hibs?

We want him but we don't need him
    He wants to come here
We've put bids in that I believe the latest is fair
Not 1 other club has came in for him
We can sign him for nothing in 6 month's

Hibs are ok getting hand out after hand out off of us when it suits but don't seemingly want to negotiate any of our player's in to the bargain. So they'll take Allan on loan who was 1 of their best player's, but don't want him in this deal as they don't value him highly enough..

That's how I'm reading it and then to play him in Europe after makes it much easier to sit and wait..

They can value him at whatever they want. I don't and the club don't feel he's worth more than 2 and a possible player or loan..

We are well within our rights to just wait now as he couldn't play any qualifiers and get him for a nominal fee or preferably free in January..

People will mention Armstrong but Armstrong is much more proven. The EPL market is insane. Armstrong will start and has been brought in to start for Southampton. Numerous EPL club's wanted him..

If an EPL club comes in and snaps him up for 4 mill then crack on. We all know they won't..

I think we'll get him this window but only on deadline day. Hibs won't be happy losing him for less than £3.5M but they're not stupid so i suspect they'll let him go at the last minute knowing that £2/2.5M is better than him signing a pre-contract deal.

Mcginn has been in the public for a while with a few bids getting knocked back and itll prob be done before window closes ..but Arzani has come in under the radar with a 2 year deal from city probably closer than we think to being completed.

We aren't 'disrespecting' them at all.

Why pay £4m when we can wait and get him for * all in 6 months? Hibs fans are moaning because they know he's desperate to come here and can't handle it.

It's how football works. Smaller clubs don't like it but tough *. You don't just pay the money immediately that the seller wants. It is a business market after all as well as a football one.
