I don't think a decent centre back actually costs that much. It does actually worry me that Sevco are willing to spend £3m on defenders and we are not. Qualifying for the next round 480,000 euros. Group stage of the champions league €15.25 and €900,000 per point earned. Europa League €2.92m and €190,000 per point and €500,000 for last 32. The money for spending £5m for a defender comes back easily. I really think a CB and or a RB are all we need. I don't like Brendon's well it isn't football manager argument, you brought in high level attacking players why not defenders too? When you are into the 5th window it just doesn't wash.

This Eduoard deal has become a distraction. Don't forget that 9m spend has been largely offset by the sale of Armstrong for 7m.

So we're actually a quality first team player down (Armstrong) and our net spend is only 2m.

We need to be spending another 10m minimum to bring our squad up to scratch.

I was gutted at the time it happened and people seemed to be celebrating the fact but I’ll say it now - we * miss John Park.

No we don’t, that’s falling into the Rodgers mindset there. We got Wantama and Van Dijk for £2.5m combined, get the right players in, stop looking down south.

Bit of a stretch to say he doesn't care about the defence, but he definitely prioritises other areas of the pitch more, which is frustrating because the defence is clearly our biggest weakness.

I think the market has been greatly inflated since the days of Wanyama and Van Dijk, if for instance, Ntcham costs 4m, I see no reason why defensive equivalents can't be identified and if you have to pay 4-5m for them, then we should be doing so.

Aye. It was the Van Dijk sell on cause that effectively paid the Edouard fee as well most likely..

Because the club's they're at mate..

Getting these guy's in from small club's in Belgium and Holland before they reach a City, is key for club's like us and what we should be constantly searching for..

Prices definitely have gone up, many clubs realised the prices they could get in Belgium and Holland so they all put their prices up, but you can still get 2 good players for a combined £8m I think. With Armstrong gone and the Van Dijk 10% payment and extra £8m spend would be very little.

Must be those co-op repayment loans that have sucked all our money away, best get ready to support "The Celtic"

I love Rodgers but that is a shambles, take your Premier league tinted specs off and look abroad, and that Lee cuntington needs to get to * because if we cannot find a defender to replace the * we have at moment then he isnt doing his job.

While I do agree with that mate, Ntcham was at Man City. Nobody can tell me there are no more gems in football, waiting to he discovered.

The Dnglish market is very distorted, but the smaller leagues trading between each other? Still value to be found.

We should have a * of a lot of money available to us, my point is it’s not soley about money. If Brendan thinks he doesn’t have the cash to improve this team? He needs to take a long hard look at both his scouting team and himself.

First signs of Rodgers being a yes man.

    Disappointed is an understatement.

Weakest part of the side and we have money to spend as well. * criminal.

They need to get the finger out the fact we’re on a 3rd qualifying campaign in a row with a makeshift defence is a joke every transfer window seems to be the same sound bites coming from Rodgers, if we end up chasing McGinn all summer at the expense of the defence then it’s bollocks from Celtic.

Not impressed with the computer game comments tbh.
Almost as condescending as Strachan’s can of Kestrel interview.
Think most of our fans are aware that his job’s not as easy as playing Football Manager on the computer. You don’t get £2.5 million a year for doing that though.

Starting to get * off with these interviews now . We as fans have known for some time now that the defence was our problem area how can no one at the club see this . We must have money to spend as we have spent nothing so far (Armstrong and Vvd money for Eddy) so ffs go out and get us a decent Cb and Rb

It's not the first time he's came out with it either.

As I say, sometimes he is a bit too arrogant for his own good. We aren't all idiots and in the modern era when so many are able to keep in touch with the ins and outs of the market with the click of a button, it won't wash.

Ok he's a top class manager, who are we..but still. It doesn't mean we have to buy everything that comes out from the club.

It’s very concerning that we haven’t brought in some players tbh.

Yes we’ve signed Edouard which is a great signing tbf but we’ve lost Patrick Roberts and we desperately need some defensive reinforcements. If we qualify for the CL without making some proper signing’s then it’s just going to be more of the same as it has been for the last two years. I’m getting quite tired of us (regardless of group quality) ship 3+ goals on a regular basis. It’s not good enough and it seems like we’re penny pinching yet again. I hope I’m proven wrong in the next few weeks.

I'm truly worried that he's going to leave us the next time a big job down south becomes available because he's not been backed by the board. He's already said the fans need to look elsewhere, other than him, for the lack of signings. That suggests to me, he blames the board, and he's not happy.

If you take the money for

    Stu £7m
    Erik £1.3m
    VVD £7.5m minimum

That's £15.8m with a reported £9m for Eddie that's £6.8m profit squirreled away in the reserves again!
