guaranteed that if we dont qualify dembele or tierney will be punted to make up the shortfall in CL money which is sad. but as i said many times we are scotlands champions and we have to go thru 8 * games to get to the group stages and its only gonna get harder every season to qualify. our board and the scummy sfa should be fighting our corner.CHAMPIONS league my * *. bring it on.HH.

No got a clue mate, but it’s obviously still a good league. I’m judging it by how the Greek sides done in Europe last year, Aek got to the last 32 of the EL, Olympiakos qualified for the CL group stage and the other 3 sides got to the EL play off stage.

Thing is the English window will be shut by the time the 2nd leg is played on 14th August so that means they either get sold before the 9th August or they stay to January or get sold to a European league would expect it to be dembele and 1 other to be sold to make the cash up even though we have sold out CP season ticket wise, have over £40m in the bank and could get £12m plus from EL if we made it!

    Nightmare draw for Aek..

Just looking at a couple of their player's from last season and Araujo from Las Palmas scored a bucket load but was only on loan and doesn't seem to have gone back. Swedish international midfielder Johansson has gone to Rennes..

Another Greek international attacking player who looks to have been a first teamer has gone to Olympiakos..

So looks like quite a few have obviously been taken since they won their league..

Plus this will be their first competitive game..

    Glad we're at home first..

Delighted just to get something different (if we get past Rosenborg). No more Be'er Sheva/Rosenborg/Astana for a few years please.

Should the worse happen, I don't think it will be an immediate effort to sell some of them. Maybe January if a bid comes in, or rather next summer someone will be for the off to cover the miss. We've banked enough so far that a year without European football we will be ok.

I assume that lot will come later in the form of who remains out of todays draw? Surely maybe in a way if we put AEK out, we have taken out one of the tougher opponents we could face later on. While they are still at the start of their summer training.

Got knocked out the champions league by cska Moscow. Knocked out club brugge in the Europa league, finished second in a group with milan, rijeka and austria wien. Drew 0-0 home and away against milan then got knocked out on away goals by dynamo Kiev in the round of 32.

Also won their league by 6 points and got to the final of the Greek cup, losing to POAK.
    They're no mugs.

What? Be'er Sheva and Astana in the Play-off Round 2 years in a row was the best draw we could get each time. We also twice got put out (Legia and Sion) in recent European qualifying years and got brought back twice on technicalities.

We've have a lot of good fortune in qualifiers.

It would be disgraceful if we sold a player simply to make up for lack of CL qualification. We clearly do not budget to be a CL regular fixture, just look at our massive gambling & lack of serious spending year-in, year-out throughout the qualifiers.

But if we don't qualify, I can see Tierney, Dembele etc thinking more seriously of a move away. Champions League football is a massive pull for us when keeping/attracting players.

    It is *.

However, we're going into these crucial ties yet again without a settled back four.

Given what's at stake, that's just not acceptable. And there should be no cover for Rodgers or the board if it contributes to our failing to qualify.

    Nightmare for us also.

They only lost 6 out of 50 games last season in all competitions. Clearly a very solid team who are hard to beat. Only CKSA Moscow home and away, PAOK, Larisa, Asteras Tripoli and Atromitos beat them last season.

AC Milan, Club Brugge, Dynamo Kiev, Austria Wien and Rijeka never beat them home or away over 2 legs and they played Olympiacos 4 times and won 3 and drew 1.

On paper they are getting better results than us and playing tougher games. Unbeaten in their last 10 European games against all good teams and haven't lost a League game since October.

Tough draw, I don't like the negativity that if we don't qualify we will need to sell KT or Dembelle. AEK will be saying the same, a tough draw . It might prompt Brendan and the board to get in a quality CB and right back. The heat in Greece will be a factor but as said they are something different, they wont like our direct approach.

If Rosenborg were to knock us out we'll be playing one of these teams instead of AEK

Winners match 6: The New Saints (WAL) v Lincoln Red Imps (GIB)
Winners match 7: Torpedo Kutaisi (GEO) v Víkingur (FRO)
Winners match 8: Spartaks Jūrmala (LVA) v La Fiorita (SMR)
Winners match 9: APOEL (CYP) v Flora Tallinn (EST)
    Cork City (IRL)

If we beat Rosenborg but fail to beat AEK where do we go? Is it a play-off for the EL?
