World Cup Semi-final - Croatia v England, Wed 11th July

Every time I start to think to myself, this group of players are ok guys, Southgate is a likeable chap and comes across really well, Kane is living the dream and fair play to the guy, Maguire is a great story and Pickford is another that would be in the stands giving it laldy if he wasn’t playing, I can’t grudge them any of this and the fervour and buzz about the whole thing is great, what a feel good factor it must be for them all, I even contemplate wishing @honda all the best....

...then I watch BBC news for 2 minutes, listen to 10 seconds of TalkSport and they can all GET SO FAR TO *!!!!!

Exactly the same for me ....cept the bit about giving the * the benefit of the doubt for even 2 seconds.

 

Seriously this WC is a fkn farce with that run of theirs.

I think they have a serious chance of getting to the final, having looked at Croatia in the last couple of games, looks like they've shat the bed with fear, if both teams played to their potential I'd fancy Croatia. Regardless I fancied France or Belgium (now France) to win it anyway, as they're miles better than those 2.

As said I don't actually have much problem with most of their players and the manager, but as you said listening to the radio and tv, along with some of those fans you do hope it fks up big time.

 

I’m sort of the same, some of their players are sound enough but that * Southgate is a ring kissing little Englander *, cannae stand his airs and graces pish. Try’s to come across as a humble nice guy but cuts about like a watch maker from 1840s London. As the English would say “* off you faaaackin *”

 

I have a feeling they are gonna get into the final tbh although I reckon the French will win it anyway.
Looking at the WC overall, with the exception of a few games, its been pretty poor imo.

 

Mon Croatia, even if it takes a last minute og off Kane' * to win I'll take it. Just win for the sake of our sanity!

 

I really hope they win tonight , because France will destroy them in the final . That would sicken them more than losing in the semi .

 

It's like listen to a load of grumpy old women.

 

Hoping Croatia, but I think they'll go through in Extra Time or Penalties. France will beat either team in the Final.

I think it’s been a great World Cup, plenty of drama and lots of goals but the standard of football has been atrocious from some of the top nations.

 

Yeah, notional underdogs have given quite solid football performances.

 

Or have some of the lesser nations raised their game/performances?
Teams like Iran, Japan, Russia have all stepped up then throw in Mexico, Sweden, and the likes who have also raised their game. I think with so many players playing in top leagues from lesser nations the international stage is just more even.
I've loved this world cup.

 

Southgate was our club captain for 10 years, he has always been passionate and always had a great connection with fans, top bloke in person as well.

 

It's a case of both.

Some of the bigger nations have been appalling - Argentina/Brazil/Germany etc, not to mention the notable abscence of the likes of Italy and Holland.

 

I cannot * stand England, or their national side, but the best thing you * did was sack Allardyce and bring in Southgate (who I'll admit I laughed at when he was appointed).

He's had the balls to drop * like Rooney and Joe Hart, and go with youth and energy.

I really really like what he's done with your lot, well......like isn't really the right word, more like respect.
