Whatever field you are in you want to be the best you can and/or earn as much as you can,in football the goal would be to play at the highest level and earn as much as you can in your short footballing career.
I agee Everton is maybe not the best move but it will put him in a bigger shop window for the future.
£25 million is not a massive sum in SPL so there is always the chance another club will make a move,in fact i'm pretty certain.

For the majority that is true but that's not the same for all.

Danny McGrain, Paul McStay and Henrik Larsson are testament to that. All could have left for more money...but didn't.

If he truly is as diehard as he says he will reject any transfer for the foreseeable.

And if he can make 80k a week somewhere else he can set up himself and his family even better for the rest of their lives, aye 20k a week is a small fortune to most of us but it's still a limited career, if we put our love of Celtic aside for a second and look at it as a professional it's a no brainer.

Still think it's all a load of paper * either way, he's an essential player and with the money for CL qualification rising as it has having him in the team long term is potentially worth much more, the money men on our board are a lot of things but they're not daft, talk of him being 'pushed out the door' by them would be short sighted to put it mildly, if/when he leaves it'll because he thinks it's the right move for his career.

Despite reports to the contrary, Celtic have not received a bid for Kieran Tierney and are not impressed by media attempts unsettle the squad. Kieran recently signed a six-year contract. Celtic expect the player to be an integral part of team building over the next several years. Having only just turned 21, they also expect his value to continue to appreciate.

Celtic do not have to sell and do not want to sell. We are a well managed club with money available to fulfill strategic plans. We have recruitment plans and budget in place for this summer; we are not planning to recruit a first choice left back or spend an unexpected windfall. This attention is unwelcome and a distraction from Champions League preparations.

I also hear Kieran’s agent is relaxed with the player at Celtic and not agitating for a move. I suspect Everton have let their trusted outlets know they are interested in the player, but it has not gone beyond that stage.

In the sense that it's fabricated to sell papers? There's no interest from Everton?

In Sweden everyone pays 40% tax and life is as good as it can realistically be. If anything footballers, Tierney included, earn too much and pay too little tax.

There is absolutely no way Tierney cant have a comfortable life with what he earns now even if he is on crack.

He is earning multiples of what the average doctor, lawyer, or other top professional earns, and he will have the same career opportunities available to him as most other people when he retires from playing football.

A football player earning £20,000+ a week for ten to 15 years is one of the few people who can actually afford to turn down a substantial wage increase and still ensure that he and his family never have to worry about money again.

He'll be on 45% (additional rate UK) Plus we need to remember in Scotland HR has increased the tax bands so it'll be 46%.
As time passes this difference will, probably, increase and I wonder how that will affect us in the coming years signing players who have a choice between us in Scotland and a club in england. (We will have to offer more in wages to offset that).
