They have won eight major honours in the post-war era, and they won their last one almost a quarter century ago. They have qualified for European competition twice this decade. They’re the definitive midtable club - a paragon of mediocrity.

Everton have a good history and a good fan base, they are a big club and it would be a good opportunity.

What makes them a big club?

Well the reasons I said in the post you quoted. Everton are obviously a big club in England and people are just talking then down because they are interested in one of our players.

They are a super-wealthy Aberdeen - if that.

    Aberdeen in the post-war era

    League (4)
    Scottish Cup (7)
    Scottish League Cup (6)
    European Cup Winners’ Cup (1)
    UEFA Super Cup (1)

    Everton in the post-war era

    League (4)
    FA Cup (3)
    European Cup Winners’ Cup (1)

(I have discounted pre-war titles; Queen’s Park is Scotland’s joint fourth biggest extant club if they are included.)

Everton have a higher average attendance than Aberdeen, but Everton play in the greatest league in the world, so that is only natural.

I understand nobody wants him to leave, but there’s no point in being in denial. Everton are a big club and it would be a good opportunity for KT.

I don’t think they’re anywhere near a big club on the world stage, you don’t exactly see people talking about Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Everton do you?

They are a good club but they’ve never made an impact on the world stage that a big club actually would.

They are a big club. They aren't one of Europe's few truly great clubs. So, no people don't have them in the same bracket as Real Madrid etc.

Its hardly going to be an Oumar Niasse situation where Koeman didn't even give him a locker....

So basically they’re a big vlub if you discount all the actual big clubs?

Are you for real? you don't have to be a global powerhouse like Man United to be a big club. We aren't as big as Real Madrid, Man U etc. Does that mean we are small time as well?

NAH but we have a trophy count that dwarfs Everton’s, we have a fanbase that dwarfs Everton, as do the likes of Benfica, Porto, Galatasary, Inter Milan, AC Milan....

The list goes on and on. They are a good club, a club I quite like but they struggle they’ve neve been up there with those. They’re a decent club but you’d never say they are a big one. Rich as * the now though.

Or do you count a big club as anything that plays in a top league or something cos i’m struggling to see it from the world stage point of view.

I know what you mean, they aren't a BIG club. I want KT to stay as much as the next celtic fan but some people are acting as though Everton aren't enough for him to at least consider.

Of course any coub that can offer a decent level of football and a life changing amount of money, both for the player and for ourselves as a club would be due consideration.

KT doesn’t strike me as somebody who would like to leave us at the moment, which is why he signed a 6 year deal I suppose.

No, but we are bigger than Everton by some distance.

In England alone, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are all categorically bigger than Everton; Manchester City have fewer major honours, but they are a current football superpower, and they have a bigger following.

1We could ask for 35m plus a player McCarthy, and 15% of sell on fee when he goes to Madrid for 100m
