The money is of no interest to us as fans. £40m would never be reinvested right back into the side, we'd see a fraction of it if lucky.

You could ask for £100m and still not be able to replace him. He's the kind of player who comes along once in a blue moon and I'll be extremely disappointed if he leaves at this point.

Spot on, the majority would be siphoned off for stadium renovation or the likes and they'd come out and say there's no point breaking our wage structure. There's no point having massive development or transfer successes like Tierney or Dembele if we don't reinvest the funds to take the club forward.

I could stomach either going if we seen a real upgrade in quality around the team/squad. What would be hard to take is banking £25 million on top of record-breaking revenue and getting hit with some Bosman or low cost signing that only seen as simply stay ahead domestically but regress in a European sense.

It doesn't interest me at all, particularly with him. For me, he is one of those players that I see as irreplaceable in the short-medium term. We might see another in 20-30 years but we won't get anyone close to him if we were to punt now.

£25m would be a shocking price as well.I don't care 'if we play in Scotland'. It has been mentioned but Luke Shaw went for £30m 4 years ago...Tierney is on a 6 year deal and is a quality player playing in probably the toughest position to find regular 'plers'.

I realise that one day he probably will leave, but if it was to be now I'd be incredibly deflated heading into this season. This kind of money being chucked about and us being unable to do anything about it by a certain point has my interest in football waning tbh.

Rodgers' comments in regards to punting him are frustrating as well. Think it was @Mcguire1 that mentioned in another thread but when asked about Simunovic he plays it down, a guy who we could definitely afford to lose. With Tierney he talks it up, hard to reject blah blah, almost as if he is actively trying to punt him. Whatever happened to 'nae comment'.

The thing is we are looking at it from the perspective of being a supporter, if a serious offer comes in i think it will be almost impossible to keep him, no question it would be a helluva loss, but sadly we have to live in the real world.

    Fully appreciate that, Prof.

Doesn't make it any easier to accept though which is why I'm waffling on. He's a fantastic footballer and one of us, they are hard to find nowadays. :55:

Yeah i fully agree with the point you made, i'm sure just about every supporter would be devastated if he left, it's not more money in the bank we want, it's quality on the pitch, and they don't come any better than young KT.

Along with Broony he's the heartbeat of the team we simply can't sell him even if it's 40m he would be more of a loss than Moussa in my estimation.

I think that K.T. should be around for at least another full season . I do admit though , it looks like he will eventually leave for a higher waged club . But I honestly hope that he doesn't move too soon , and if/when he goes , he chooses the correct option . I really rate him as a player , and wish him every success in his playing career . He will hopefully be winning a few more trophies whilst still wearing the hoops .

Think someone already said on an earlier page, don't think he would want to leave just now anyway. However wouldn't be a surprise if the club accepted a substantial bid and forced him out the door with cartoon dollar signs in their eyes, hopefully not though.

What actually happens if two clubs agree a fee but a player refuses to leave?

Genuine question. It must happen a lot, surely?

    The player stays.

It allegedly happened when Spurs bid £9 million for Alan Hutton, he didn't want the move and the huns desperate for it to go through then had to give him a golden goodbye of £1 million

That’s what I thought. So, ultimately, KT decides whether he goes or not.

I’d be surprised if we got more than £25m.

Rangers told him he was risking the future of the club if he didn't go as well. Disgrace if you ask me. We obviously can't do the same with KT but if we do nudge him out I hope he's honest about it.

Stuart Armstrong left for a club that nearly got relegated and is managed by Mark Hughes.

I want the lad to stay I really do and if he has any sense he'll captain us onto 10IAR and then join Man Utd or someone who can win the EPL. But other players might see Everton as a good stepping stone to prove their ability to the top 4.

Up to a point. McGeady didn’t really want to go to Spartak but they offered the club the most money so Lennon made a point of talking him into it.

Some players, that aren’t amongst the best at their club, won’t really have as much sway over it as not moving could see their career stagnate.
