    His family are mostly Huns. I think it’s a myth that players actually support clubs. Most have a passing interest from family links. End of the day it’s their job. I reckon 90% of players wouldn’t care who they play for.

    Now 11 or 12 games without defeat ..two 5-1s a 4-0 and a 5-0 its not even close nowadays. BRENDAN owns them.

    Agree, i've always thought that as well.

    While me and you are going to games and watching every game people that actually become players are often playing the same days or the same time or travelling to and from games etc and don't really ever get to go to games and probably don't even see half the games of their team at all.

    I do agree with your general point. I'm just thinking of times when a player joins a club and ends up supporting them so much they don't go anywhere.

    My favourite is Danny McGrain, definitely not a Celtic fan but there's no question were his heart has been since he started playing for us. One of the best players in the world, he could have went to any team like Dalgllsh but he stayed and he's still here. Absolute legend :notworthy

    I love Lustig, not saying he could go to any team but he wasn't a Celtic fan growing up now he celebrates like he's in the GB when we score :giggle1:

    I think Stokes and Scott Mcdonald are examples of players who supported us but were overlooked and rightly so. In this current day its nice to see a player fall in love with Celtic after experiencing the fans and atmosphere.

    More of a football gripe as a whole - but I would much prefer the club to stick with one home kit for 3-4 years as opposed to changing every season.

    I understand the financial benefit of selling a new set of kits every year, but to me I think having an extended run of a jersey would be better. Would rather see 4 years of a kit rather than minor tweaks to it every year. Would make a change even more special if it didn't come every summer.

    I agree to an extent, 4 years I'd say is a bit too long but I reckon a strip should be for two seasons....really feel for those on low income with kids.

    Would a compromise work and we still release new kits each season but substantially reduce the cost of children's kits?

    That way the club aren't taking a huge hit but we also aren't putting struggling parents in awkward positions?

    My wife used to work for and with various English Premier League clubs, and the PFA, so she came into contact with a lots of pro footballers.

    Most had spent very little time attending games as supporters, because they'd been too busy playing as kids. At best, most players are what you might call armchair fans of a club.

    When she was involved, the old YTS scheme was still in place, where they signed on as apprentices for 2 years at the age of 16. It is fair to say that, by the time they reached the end of that contract, and were either being offered a pro contract or being released, the vast majority of players no longer saw football as a game, or their passion, but as a their job. The clubs had beaten the wide eyed innocent love of the game out of them, in order to make them functioning professionals.

    That's why when someone like KT comes along, it is so inspiring and appealing, because he has maintained his childhood love of the club and the game.

    Yeah I even remember moving to Saturday fitba as a kid around 13/14 and think you do start caring more about playing(in the outrageous hope you might make it,haha) than supporting. It was basically the MON years. I’d go to training instead of watching CL games on tv. The standout game I missed was 4-3Juve game. Probably ended up being a more loyal supporter during the Strachan days when i was older and knew I wasn’t good enough to play at any decent level.

    A Celtic fan will give a lot more as a player than a non fan. McManus proved that giving that bit extra can more than compensate for being a little less talented.

    Sign James McClean asap. :ireland::ynwacelti:shamrock::ynwacelti
