Very reasonable point. I know it's easy to say given I'll never be in position but if I was given the option of getting £20k per week to play for Celtic versus £40-50k per week at Everton/Southampton etc. then I'd pick Celtic every single time.

Wish they would stop the nonsense about selling our best players and actually started thinking about bringing some quality players in.

If Celtic try and force a move through for Tierney or even Dembele they can do one especially after all the champions league money we have been earning.

Currently sold Armstrong for 7m ,lost Roberts and looking at a crocked right back who's not played in 2 years.

PISH, as Brendan said if a big offer comes in it's up to the PLAYER and club to decide, they'd need a big crowbar to wrench KT from Paradise before 10IAR

Wouldn't take less than £30m for him. Any club buying him will have the potential of at least 10-12 years of a top class left back, would be madness letting him go for less. One of the hardest positions to replace as well.

I often wonder if there's one big psychological game being played out. All the negative stuff for us and all the positive stuff for the huns. Gazillions in the bank, multiple cup successes and our players playing on the international stage of the world cup yet it's all negative talk of our big game players leaving. Like we need the money. Surely it's time to speculate to accumulate. I think the club would be stupid to let either KT or Dembele go now.......it just seems too soon or perhaps too desperate to seek an early cash out. If they try to force KT out (and we know they can) it will be a huge betrayal. KT is the epitome of what every young Celtic lad wants to be. He's grown up with the club, grown into a legend and hopefully the man he has turned into is able to make the right decision and go with his heart.

I'm starting to question whom Brendan is serving here.....never thought I would say that :54:

Just bought a fringe player for a record fee, got rid of two squad playerd for good money but you all start to question the board and Rodgers because of a regurgitaded story they repeat every year. It's KT ffs hes going nowhere until 10 at least, some of you need to get a grip:56:

I said previously that KT's head was unlikely to get turned by money etc and I stand by that but perhaps this story does have legs. Don't forget BR has been directly quoted as to having made those statements and any Celtic fan reading them is entitled to feel a little disquiet. None of us question the fiscal ability of the club as we all know it's a successfully run business and KT is a great asset of that business. We have an emotional attachment to KT and whilst we want to keep him most of us will accept it if he feels the need to move on to something bigger......it will never be better. The EPL is soulless. It's just that we as fans feel like every time the club looks to be going in the right direction with a happy successful team they go and sell the best assets before we get chance to see how far the team can go.

Also if we look at things as they really are without the green tinted specs. Time remains to be seen how good the business was in this window. French is Eddy is a raw talent and not quite the finished article. He shows great potential but it still has to be fully realized and the club has in this instance speculated in the hope of accumulating further down the line. So far he looks to be a good buy. Good business in the VVD sale has paid for him.

Armstrong wasn't consistent and wasn't all that even if I did enjoy his goals. He was never really committed and certainly never the same after his pal was moved on. Big Erik was never all that either. He had one good season before his injury but I suspect even if he hadn't got injured he wasn't up to Brendan's standards. Yes we made a fair bit on the two but what have we really spent? And will we really spend?

Forget about Sviatchenko who was never good enough , Armstrong and Roberts were important members of the team though
Spent nothing so far but it's early days i guess.

James Maddison just went for £25mil, Tierney should be miles outside of that guy's price bracket.

Disappointed with what Rodgers has said is an understatement.

He should be saying he is our future captain ect and unless a daft bid if 50 odd million came in he is going nowhere.

If we sold KT it would be a massive blow.

I can't imagine him leaving, especially not this summer. He just signed a 6 year deal, he's here for at least the 10.

I know anything is possible so he could be sold and if it was to happen I wouldn't accept anything under 40 or 50 million. People will probably say that's unrealistic but he's one of the best left backs he's got a 6 year deal and he's what 21? He's only going to get better.

Honestly those quotes from Rodgers are poor. Expect a wee bit better. Seems he can't stop himself from pandering to the EPL and the media down there.

Agree with it being probably the most difficult position to replace. That's why the fee should be higher. I think you can get a decent winger for 10-12m. But left backs are rarer so even if we spent half of a 25m sum that wouldn't be enough to guarantee a replacement of similar quality IMO.

On that basis, if Tierney does leave, we need to accept we will be weaker in that area of the team irrespective of who we bring in as a replacement, and therefore we need to make us better in other areas to make up for that, so we need to be looking for 35-40m for him.

Lets be honest, every single person in here would jump at the chance to quadruple their wages if they were in Tierneys shoes.

Its easy to say you wouldnt but faced with cold hard numbers you would, no question.

That being said we shouldn’t entertain anything less than £30m, why should we? Play hardball as we have previous for supplying the EPL with undervalued quality (look at Van Dijk ffs).

The thing is though we wont invest any significant chunk of any money we get into the first team, and we wont be able to replace him, so ultimately we would be dowsizing again, and entering into a situation thats still ongoing since Van Dijk left.
