It's weird. I can't remember the last time I cared so less about a player - who could be deemed good - leaving.

I agree, Ki is probably the only other one. I liked him as a player but at the time he wasn't a guaranteed starter. Was happy to cash in on him same as with Armstrong.

Ki for me, I was on holiday in Benidorm and a Swansea fan asked me about him said technically excellent but a * bag when it came to putting the tackles in.

I've no bad blood with regards to stu. He's not a Celtic fan like tierney, McGregor etc and he done well for us. Lost a bit of respect when he dropped form not because of his form but because he didn't seem interested. In fairness he snapped out of that after a while but just wasn't good enough to be a starter. Great business or us and Southampton and I honestly hope he makes a good career for himself down there. Goes to show aswell if "the big league teams" aren't just sniffing around our top talents such as vvd, wanyama but our squad players now too

Seems a lot of their midfielders could be on the move too. He might be in with a shout as one of there regular starters.
    Good luck to him.

Anyone else utterly delighted with this? Arguably not even in our top 5 best midfielders and we’ve got 7 million for him!!!
Plus he only had a year left on his deal and made it clear he wanted out. Lawwell surely rivals Levy for most astute transfer negotiator around.

He may well succeed in England as he has a good ‘engine’ and can crack a good shot with no space but for me he was never good enough technically for the team we’re trying to be or trying to compete against in Europe.

Sviatchenko and Armstrong have paid for Edoaurd and we literally don’t even need either. Plus the 7 mill for Van Dijk’s sitting around. ££££££

It's basically the going rate now though.

If he left on a free transfer an EPL club would likely still have had to pay about £5million for him as it would have become a bidding war between 5/6 teams and he'd have ended up with about that just to sign for a team. So he was always going to cost about £5million, all Southampton have done is pay a little more to ensure they get him.

The EPL going rate yeah but Celtic have once in their history spent over 7 mill and that was a week ago. We’re unlikely to spend that big again consistently as we shop in a total different market. It’s essentially free money for us.

Yes but Stuey is still a good player but he didn't want to be here. EPL is where the glory is at but hardly any club in it comes close to what Celtic FC is and always will be.

70% of the clubs - including Southampton - will never know glory.

Not delighted, no. The fee we received is fantastic business for us, and I never really took to Armstrong as much as others players...but he definitely gave us something no other midfielder gives us. Nobody else makes the same driving runs into the final third/box that he does.
