That's a bit * if true, I'm not convinced at their best he gets ahead of lustig but times he was obviously tired and toiling and should have been rested, and gamboa given a game or two.

I can't recall if we have the same problem with Izaguirre?

Apparently he said that he wouldn’t go to the gold cup so he’d be here for our qualifiers before he signed then he * off and went there anyway.

    Rodgers was bemused.

If thats what happened then he, BR, has a point, not because he played for his country but because he, Gamboa, may have broke his word. In the main we need to accept, when we sign players, they will want to play for their country, that is understandable and what we would all want to do tbh. We certainly can't be seen to be trying to dictate to players if they can play for their country though.

Aye, which we don’t. Look at Rogic, Lustig etc at the world cup and it’ll keeo them out a lot of the qualifiers.

I think it’s just Rodgers won’t trust him after that.

Aye I know but we need to treat all players the same, that's what I'm meaning.

Well if his non appearances are still linked to that, if indeed that was the reason in the first place, that's getting petty now imo.

I don’t think so, you negotiate in good faith. If he wanted to place international football ahead of our most important games of the season then he had ample opportunity to state that was the case and we’d move on.

To lie and turn your back on your word shows you are unreliable, somebody out for themselves not for the team. That’s not petty for me in the slightest, that’s great management.

    Couldn’t disagree more.

Management is all about trust. The fact people can’t understand why Rodgers loves Lustig and Boyata but doesn’t like Gamboa and Sviatchenko is baffling to me to be honest.

Lustig and Boyata give absolutely everything for Rodgers.

Initially it is yes but given the length of time that has passed then it should have been resolved by either building up a certain level of trust again or the player should have been punted/released by now, as if BR is so convinced he is out for himself solely he would want him away from the group altogether.
Again this is assuming it is to do with him deciding to play for his country, which we aren't sure if it is.

I've stated my reason to Dev why its getting petty. I ain't knocking him for picking Lustig nor Boyata, as they do give their all. Management includes what both you and Dev are saying, I agree with that but it often involves having to use people you previously/still didn't/don't like/trust you either find a way to make it work or you get rid.

And if Gamboa hasn’t managed to rebuild that trust, Brendan should just do so anyway?

As far as I know we’ve been trying to get rid of him, with no real takers as yet. Guys failed miserably at his last two clubs.

Well if Gamboa hasn't shown any effort in that regard I would have thought he would have simply been released by now, as that probably wouldn't have cost the earth.
I have said what a manager, imo, should be capable of doing, whether its football related or not.
Of course this is all speculation based on the player allegedly saying he wouldn't play for his country and then doing so. I prefer to just look at it as a signing that hasn't worked out for a variety of reasons. As for him failing at his last 2 clubs, if true and I have no doubt to disbelieve you, that could raise more questions on this signing but that can be left for another day, I aint going there :giggle1:

We’re one of his last two, West Brom being the other, we took a gamble based on his attributes.

He’s on a not too shoddy a wage, coming from the Premiership, it’s not a case of waving a magic wand and making him dissapear. Contracts do occasionally be adhered to. Just ask Bobo Balde or the likes of Winston Bogarde.

If the attitude isn’t in the right place and you can’t get rid of him, do you expect Rodgers to reward that behaviour with dropping one of the model pros in his swuad for him, a very popular man in the dressing room as well, in Mikael Lustig?

Marvin Compper has said he is ready to put his injury troubles behind him as looks to kick start his Celtic career.

The defender was signed from RB Leipzig in January but didn't make his Celtic debut until March after he suffered a calf injury during the side's winter break in Dubai.

The 33-year-old didn't feature as the Parkhead side secured a double treble as he was struck down again with more fitness concerns.

On Wednesday, Compper made his second appearance for Brendan Rodgers' side in their victory over SK Vorwarts.

And the German said he is ready to put his injury * behind him as he looks to establish himself in the squad.

He said: "I was happy to be wearing the Celtic kit for only the second time since I arrived.

"Every game time you can get is important to get fitter and today was a huge part of it.

"Game fitness and health is essential to play on that level, I've been lacking that last season when I came.

"I'm hoping I can establish that right now and we go from there.

"It was tough but that's behind me now and I try to be positive and look forward.

"I'm just happy that I'm healthy now and want to keep it that way.

Compper has played for Fiorentina, Leipzig, and Gladbach as well as earning a cap for Germany and said that his experience in the game allowed him to stay focused throughout his spell on the sidelines.

And although he hasn't had a chance to establish himself in the Celtic side yet, he doesn't feel he'll be under any added pressure from Brendan Rodgers.

He added: "I think I'm an experienced player, so I've seen a lot throughout my career.

"You always have to be positive no matter what happens.

"That's the only way to get out of a negative situation.

"That's why I'm back now and I hope I can stay healthy.

"I think everyone has to play a role within a team and I have a role within team and that's what I have to do.

"Whatever the manager tells me or is expecting of me, that's what I have to do and nothing on top."
