Not for me. The GB are in charge of the front blocks and the club retain the ones up the back. There's a good few guys up there in their 50's, 60's and 70's and they're fully entitled to be there. Far from '*'. Spoke to two of them at HT one day and they used to stand in the jungle every other week, this is the closest there'll ever be to that and they love it.

I take your point about visually it mightn't look great but I think it's great to see a few older, wiser, folk up the back. They've seen a * of a lot more Celtic games than me. And despite not jumping and bouncing about the place for 90 mins they definitely do sing up

I agree with his point though, people who weren't going to get involved in the singing and dancing shouldn't have moved to there. It doesn't look right when only the front half are doing everything while people just stand behind them.

Some had season tickets there for years, way before the GB were there, if they want to stay at that section then they should be able to. Then there's those that can stand for a game but can't bounce around, so they should just be papped out? Ridiculous!

Think a European cup is overrated, you ask. Did I not say that the Lions feat was one of the great sporting accomplishments? You will find that I did. However, it is over 50 years old and the competition is held every year. What I am saying is that it is quite sad that the clubs main claim to greatness even today is of an event that happened over 50 years ago. Do you consider Porto a European powerhouse base dominated on the fact that they won it as recently as 2004? What about Steua Bucharest? Nottingham Forest? In and of itself, the European Cup was a marvellous achievement and rightly lauded. Hate it when Celtic are regarded as a huge club, you ask. When it is proclaimed by people with a vested interest, yes, because it looks desperate. It’s a bit like David Brent harping on about how funny he is when no one else thinks so. It’s equal parts narcissism and insecurity.

Like to think of Celtic as a small club for running a successful business model, you ask. I’ll be honest, I know in your head you have twisted whatever I have said so that your statement there makes sense but I cannot fathom how you have managed to contrive that meaning from any part of my original post.

Hate the Rebs and refer to those who sing them as plastic paddies, you ask. No, not per se. It’s the actual plastic paddies that annoy me, and I was once among their number. If they are Irish then more power to them but when they are Scottish with only very tenuous links to Ireland (if any)and adopt the whole ‘cause’ mentality then I think it’s just embarrassing.

Bobo's reasoning for those old boy's wanting to get as close to a sample of a jungle again is a great reason. Never thought of that before..

Im not sure, look at Brown's testimonial that was just a general sale, the standing section was full but there was not a peep out of them the entire game. Had to be the worst atmosphere at Celtic Park in a long long time probably as people wanted to just be in there just for the sake of it when the whole point of it is for fans to be able to jump about and create atmosphere.

I stood in the jungle for years and I'd love to be able to stand in the standing section, it would be as close to the Jungle as you'll get these days but I physically can't any more....I can truly understand why older fans want to be part of it.

That's a one off game, the atmosphere was never going to be great, loads of families there that don't normally go.....testimonials and friendlies , benefit matches aren't exactly going to bring out the best in any crowd.

Showed what happens though when normal people infiltrate the area who just want to be a part of it but not actually do anything to enhance it.

Everyone in there just to stand and be a part of it is taking away from probably 10 people who actually want to get involved in the singing and dancing and add to the atmosphere.

Not liking the term 'infiltrate' or ' normal people' like there's a fan hierarchy!

Secondly, whenever football players are interviewed - players from Celtic or from Celtics big European opponents - there is always the cringe inducing crusade for validation. Asking opposition about Celtic, Celtic Park, Celtic fans, clearly trying to draw some form of praise in order to bolster the esteem of Celtic or of Scottish football generally. And, of course, the interviewee understands this and so feels obligated to politely compliment us. Does any truly big club need to seek constant reassurance like this? The Celtic TV interviews with Paddy’s Roberts for example we’re awash with this kind of begging behaviour. I sometimes feel actual first hand embarrassment when I see it.

Thirdly, Celtic supporters and/or youtubers/celebrity fans/pundits who constantly feel the need to reiterate that Celtic are a “massive club”, as though they are trying to brainwash themselves into believing it. Massive clubs don’t sell their best players to relegation-battling English Premiership sides or to average Championship sides. Players who play for massive clubs don’t want to leave massive clubs only to play for theoretically smaller clubs. Properly massive clubs have properly massive players. Celtic are only a massive club by one metric - their support. In every other metric Celtic fall way short of being “massive”. Unless you only use the term as it applies domestically and therefore relative to other Scottish clubs, but the common sense is that when this is claimed it is meant absolutely, globally, internationally.

Fourth, plastic paddies and the like - the kind of people who believe that Celtic supporters are, or should be, some kind of hive mind. Left wing, pro-IRA etc. I used to sing all the songs too but I remember the moment well when I was 19 and draped in a tricolour singing republican songs in the gallowgate when it hit like a sledgehammer- “I don’t actually give a * about Ireland. What am I * doing? I’m Scottish and I love being Scottish and am proud to be Scottish” and with that I snapped out of my plastic paddy syndrome for good. Now whenever I see supporters talking about the cause and all that, it makes me cringe a little for them.
