It's all very well for Sampaoli to tear his players to pieces but perhaps he should stop and take a look in the mirror before doing so. He hasn't covered himself in any glory in this tournament either.

Is he working with * goalkeepers? Yes.
Is he working with a * defence? Yes.
Has he been hindered by losing players in midfield? Yes.

But what about Argentina, as a team, going forward? They've been * hopeless. If they were scoring goals and creating lots of chances while losing then I'd maybe be inclined to give Sampaoli some sort of pass. But the fact is they haven't. When you consider he has players of the quality of Messi, Aguero, Dybala and Di Maria at his disposal, I think it's fair to conclude that Argentina have been a HUGE disappointment in an attacking sense in this World Cup. That HAS to fall on the manager. In my opinion, he has not got the team set up correctly or in a way that maximises the abilities of the highly talented players at his disposal.

I'm not saying the players are blameless, clearly they're not, but the manager has to shoulder his share of the blame for the catastrophic showings so far. This is probably the worst Argentina team I've seen in my lifetime.

 

haha....good point mate. too much sun. * knows what i meant....probably if there had been a result in the game either way and the teams still ended level would it count the result between them over the overall GD. I think that's what i meant mate, forgetting it was a draw. Only think though!!

 

Certainly makes it interesting mate as with each team having 1 game left (played at the same time) three teams could still end up on 4 pts. Win puts Nigeria through. Anything less than an Argentina win puts them out. But Nigeria draw n Iceland win n it comes down to gd. Argentina n Iceland win n it comes down to gd with Iceland 1 ahead at the mo.

 

At least the World Cup has picked up.

I think with the quality they have resting players shouldn't make that much of a difference personnel wise. What will be more interesting v Iceland will be the intensity in a game they don't have to win. Iceland's draw v Argentina gives them a great chance but it's no in their hands.
