    Argentina have more than messi as apparent world class players. They are one team who should be in with a shout for the world cup. Fair enough there defence couldnt lace ambroses shoes. Id still expect more from them, along with the apparent worlds best player ever to grace a football pitch.

    Its not like bale in wales with nobody around him and still got them that far in the euros. Messi has about 3 or 4 players who'd sell for 70-100m in todays market.

    Ronaldo is a * but atleast he steps up and wont miss a game changing penalty.

    I think you're over exaggerating the depth in Argentina's squad as opposed to Portugal. Bernardo Silva, A. Silva, Carvalho, Martins, Moutinho and others are vastly better than the pool of players Argentina has. Di Maria, Pastore, Higuian are all hugely over-rated in my opinion. If Portugal played Argentina in the final and I had £100 to stick on, it would go on Portugal everyday. I believe that would be the same with most people as well. Not because of Ronaldo over Messi or vice versa but because Portugal have a much much better team overall in all areas than Argentina.

    Was that not the first out of 50 odd he had scored for Portugal? People bang on about the technique he has 'invented' but it doesn't work. Or, should I say, isn't as effective.

    Argentina are the perfect example of a one man team. Absolutely everything they do depends on Messi.

    Portugal, on the other hand, have a style of play. Every player knows their job. They’re well organised and solid. Ronaldo is the cherry on top, in a sense.

    I’d back Portugal against Argentina every day of the week.
