Even dropping into the Europa , possibly from CL a Final should not be beyond this squad if we strenghthen wisely in key areas, we have a good squad of players who all know their roles and have bonded, we just need some quality to come in and bolster it.

in fairness aberdeen have knocked out some decent sides, and have always got past the first round. the sides they have got beaten off of are not dissimilar in quality to teams we struggle against in our qualifying route. Certainly nothing as embarrassing as rangers or hearts last campaigns.

    Leicester ????
sure, he'll want to go to a club that will win nothing ever again, and I mean never.
Leicester, a club that sacks there manager who wins them there 1st ever title. a club were they have an open topped bus parade at the end of the season if they aren't relegated.

Huns and Wee Huns don’t even deserve to be mentioned.

In Brendan we trust , what he needs in certain positions to add to the squad and what's already there i don't thinks in danger strenghthening the squad IMO he has a strong hand to go to the board with a flawless record.

I think he'll surely have at least £25m at his disposal this summer including fees and wages for new players if he wishes to use it.

The problem he faces is the * financial gap his gotten out of control in the last 3 years. The EPL TV deal was £1.7bn a few years ago and then it went nuts when BT arrived, shot up to £4/£5bn I think and worldwide it's £8bn it receives.

Which means to aquire the quality of player good enough for Celtic and withing our sensible pay structure means it must be more difficult to find a Wanyama/VVD type of player. I mean Zaha is on £120,000 a week at Crystal Palace, it's mental.

PSG spending £100m on each player and similar in Spain.

What he does offer young talent that money can't buy is world class coaching, regular first team football, good possibility of European experience, fantastic football club and fans and of course the giant shop window that goes with all that. So with a bit of luck we will sign another couple of players in Dembele's situation.

We/he also offer players in Toure's position a great way to finish their careers. Who wouldn't want to work with the great man and play for this great club.

So there is a lot to be positive about but it's going to take sensible scouting and sensible players/agents.

Brendan being constantly linked down south is a good thing for me I think, board will need to be on their toes and keep backing him as much as they can.

a bit of a silver lining is that the dmestic tv deal in england will be less in future. The current domestic tv deal is 5.1 billion, the next one is going to be 4.5 billion. thats about a 25 million pound hit per team. no idea about overseas rights mind you, im guessing it will go up, but will probably only make up that difference.

So important we get our next tv deal right, we should be looking to double current tv deal, which will surely entice players and manager such as rodgers to stay longer

Brendan Rodgers will look to invest in his Celtic squad this summer after appreciating the demands of competing on a four-pronged front.

The Parkhead side will look to close in on the completion of a deal for PSG striker Odsonne Edouard this week but it is likely that there will be other additions to the squad.

Celtic face four qualification rounds to secure a third successive season of Champions League football but injuries last season to key players has underlined the requirement for a strong pool.

Rodgers has always maintained that is preference is for a small squad to work with but he is aware that stronger reserves of quality are required if Celtic are to maintain their domestic grip while also competing on a European front.

In Rodgers’ inaugural campaign at the club, the Invincibles season, Celtic netted 106 goals on their way to the league title – a whopping 33 more than the number they netted this term.

“We had a lot more injuries than we would have liked and not just injuries but injuries to creative players that scored a lot of goals for us; Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts and at various times Moussa [Dembele] and Leigh [Griffiths],” Rodgers told BT Sport programme Magnifiseven, a celebration of the seven titles Celtic have won in succession. “We lost a lot of creativity which resulted in our goals tally maybe not being as high as it was last year.

“It shows why you have to have a big squad and a strong squad because if you are going to play the number of games and number of competitions that we have then you have to have that quality not just on the field but in reserve to come on.”

Meanwhile, Rodgers has reiterated his appreciation of just what Celtic captain Scott Brown brings to the Parkhead side.

The midfielder rounded off his season with a testimonial against the Republic of Ireland after a decade at the club but Rodgers believes that it is only in recent campaigns where Brown has received recognition of his ability.

The Hoops skipper thrives on the pantomime elements of the game but for Rodgers there is much more to him than simply being a wind-up merchant to opposition players and supporters.

“People were talking about how his legs had gone[ when I first came in],” said Rodgers. “He knew he had to make a change.

“I am happy for him that people are recognising what a good footballer he is. His ability to receive the ball under pressure, his ability to pass the ball. He is competitive. He doesn’t overstep the mark but he is super competitive. His tactical brain is something I have been really impressed with. He has been a real key member of the team but it is the team overall that allows you to win but there is no doubt as captain he is a huge part of it.” Rodgers also revealed that one of his only disappointments last season was only beating Rangers 5-0 at Celtic Park on the day the title was formally sealed.

“The only disappointment was that we should have more goals,” said the Celtic manager. “But I think you know the team is doing well when, against your great rival, you win 5-0 and still think you should have scored more. It was a great day and the players deserved a few days away after that. It was a magical day.”

Reports coming in he's told Lawwell and Desmond he wants to go to Leicester as he's terrified of having to face Steven Gerrard and the mastermind that is Gary McAllister.

    Don't go Brendan!

What's the point in going to a team like Leicester, or any of the bottom 12 Premier League teams really? You have money to spend, but so does everybody around you, and about 6-8 teams in your league have multiple times the amount you do.

It has just created an environment for desperate managers to swap around jobs every 9 months or so.

I agree although I don't know if we could quite double the current £21m total Sky and BT pay but if we just gave it to BT they'd surely give the SPFL £30m+.

There has already been one huge signal to the SFA recently regarding how the SPFL rights should be sold.

Sky lost La Liga rights and it was only paying £18m per season which is very strange.

However, there is no way Eleven Sports would have even bid for La Liga rights if Sky held onto the Clasico games.

Which means La Liga must only offer exclusive rights to all the games and doesn't split it up because it knows without El Clasico there would be little interest from broadcasters even though fans would like to see other games.

It's widely known BT would like to have exclusive rights to the SPFL as it does European football because it understands the value in it. It's absolutely ridiculous Sky are allowed to get the Derby games which means people wanting to see those matches have to pay for all of Sky Sports.

Also the SFA has got to realise that BT takes Scottish football far more seriously and is much more interesting than Sky who don't give a * because they know the Derby games will make them money no matter how pish their coverage is.

It worries me a little the incompetence of the SFA in other matters in the past. Maybe they are complete clowns when it comes to business sense.

Lawwell (who apparently runs Scottish football) surely has to see this and he must have some influence since he's a good business man and Celtic are the main attraction in the SPFL. I don't think we should get more than other teams like Barca and Madrid do but like the EPL the league winners should get the most :fear:

Don't know why I can only see some of Notorious's posts and some are blank. Would like to see what Brendan is saying.

"Everyone goes on about a new centre half, but I think people would moan if billy McNeil was playing there"

Brendan I love you mate I really do but please to * open your eyes and see that we NEED a new central defender and right back if we are to progress in Europe
