He was getting * about being Israeli before he said anything (publicly) about supporting the Israeli regime.

We didn’t get rid of Di Canio based on his political beliefs though.

Certainly don't send hateful messages to him and his wife, yeah. To take a passive aggressive stance towards Bitton because of this is pathetic.

As for the whole keeping politics out of football thing, it’s naive and simply bollocks, in my opinion. The very structures of the organisations that run the professional game are political, along with fans of every single club ever being naturally armed with various political opinions. You can’t keep politics out of football just as much as you can’t keep it out of the workplace. People will always speak up about their beliefs.

Neil Lennon signed Bitton, and Remi Gershon on loan, knowing full well they had completed their mandatory IDF training. He didn't seem to think that should stand in the way of them being at the club. I'll take his stance over someone who thinks messaging a Palestine flag and abuse to someone's wife on Instagram is a form of protest.

So you’re generalising our supporters with some * on social media. Well done why don’t you go round and give him a big massive hug.

On Bitton the footballer, he doesn’t want to leave and is happy to be a backup, wherever he is asked to play. He’s got good ability on the ball and is certainly good enough to be a member of the team.

Not getting into a back and forth on this. It goes both ways Gyp, whether you support Cause A over Cause B or vice versa.

I understand the club has roots that go far deeper than I may know, but I also see that by just having this debate about Bitton it's already dividing opinion to a place that doesn't even involve supporting a club anymore. My opinion, leave it at the door.

Really? My memories got it different then, as far as I remember it was wheb he started coming out publically that he started getting and he was treated much like Kayal before him - who was a fan favourite.

If you have evidence to the contrary the. Fair enough, I have it wrong.

Surprised he's stayed this long tbh. Thought he'd find a new club with a regular role in January.

The fact is that some people have had a grudge again him as soon as he signed due to his nationality. The people giving him abuse probably couldn’t point to Israel or Palestine on a map. It’s a conflict that’s been going on for hundreds of years, theses lots of grey areas.

I would definitely make parallels between Nazis and Zionists tbh.

No offence but there is no leaving it at the door as you say, we have been told to wear poppies and have minutes silences for people not in the slightest way connected to football or our club. As you say it goes both ways, and Nir’s a big boy I’m sure he can look after himself against the clowns online.

He’s not literally saying that when he’s sharing Zionist views but is he? That’s mainly the politics/football argument summed up into one - keep politica out of football (unless it’s my politics)

Absolutely, I posted that Israel was turning into the very thing that created it. A * state.

Still don't feel he'd be missed though, on the park anyway.

Seems a big character in the dressing room but it's no reason to keep a player on when we could have that place in the side for someone actually pushing for the first team.

Is Bitton a Zionist? If so, why did Neil Lennon have no problem signing and constantly playing a Zionist?

Hopefully we punt him. We need better players than those who are happy to "provide backup". What a * mentality to have in any kind of role never mind a professional football player.
