You don’t shockingly badly recruit good players.

    That can clearly happen.

Gravesen was a good player but a bad signing overall, as were many other examples. Musonda probably being the most recent example.

I don’t agree that either Gravesen or Musonda were signed through shockingly bad recruitment.

My entire point is anyone that has made their mind up about this guy is jumping the gun with nothing to go on but a single game and fabricated rumours.

If Congerton's main achievement in the role he has is identifying coutinho then we're *, I think Inter Milan were the only team in the world that couldn't see his talent when he was there.

A bit * that the club is spending a lot of money on these players then not saying anything when they're not playing.

Swapping Jozy Altidore for Jermaine Defoe was a master stroke.

Let's assume that he's not injured, you mentioned in an earlier post that he could play a key part in us getting through to the Champions League, but he can't even get in the squad for a dead rubber, it just dosen't add up.

1 game in 5 months would suggest that he's either fallen oot with Brendan or he hasn't been doing enough in training.

Whatever way you look at it, his signing has been an unmitigated disaster.

Like every player, they were signed with the best intentions, but they turned out to be bad recruitment.

Ffs Mints. We haven’t even been able to judge that yet.

    We can judge Gravesen.

Again, massive exaggeration. My point about the Champions League is look at how little Toure contributed for chunks of the time he was a player here, he was still a good signing for 2 reasons; he helped us make the group stage and he brought a level of experience and leadership we lacked just by being here.

You don’t get the benefit of hindsight when stating that, look back and see how many people thought Tommy Gravesen was bad recruitment when we signed him from Madrid. The fact it didn’t work out doesn’t make it bad recruitment.

Kolo toure cost us 2 goals in a 2-0 loss to monchengladbach at home, was like watching ambrose again with his performance against beer sheva away. amazing how people get this idea that he was good for us (as a player). We conceded 12 goals in 3 games when he played in the champions league, the 3 that he was unavailable to play we conceded 4 goals.

The 10 games he started for us we only kept 1 clean sheet, 5 league games, 3 champions league games, 3 champs qualifiers. His experience is of course valuable to the players at training and seems to be a great leader off the pitch, players like Ajer and Boyata seem to be improving a lot with him being here.

A simple question, why has he been nowhere near the team for the last 5 months ?

Are you now telling me he is part of the coaching staff ? :56:

The fact Rodgers all but said he wasn't training well and others were impressing more e.g. every other centre back, doesn't suggest that he will provide the same level of experience and inspiration as Toure.

The latter also actually played games of football for a spell. Something Marvin has so far failed to achieve and doesn't really look like changing.

The big difference is Toure came in and played from the get go.

If Compper isn’t getting a game now in what are essentially meaningless matches, he’s not going to be playing in the CL qualifiers.

By the time Toure came here for me he was all but finished as a player, but at least he did feature for us in a number of games, clearly far too slow.

I can understand how a player of his calibre would be an inspiration to other players, but i'm sure most of them have never even heard of Compper lol, i thought the whole purpose of his signing was to be the experienced head to partner Ajer/Hendry in the back line, but despite numerous chances to give him a game, Brendan has chosen not to play him, in fact he hasn't even made the squad, the alarm bells are a ringing lol.

I’d say it does, even taking the consideration of risk into the equation.

I’m as in the dark as everyone else with regards his wherabouts. But what I do know is there will be factors Joe Bloggs won’t be privy to.

Where was Toure for large parts of last season when he wasn’t a coach?

He got dropped because his performances dipped a bit and Jozo and Sviatchenko were playing well. Then Sviatchenko got dropped because of his pish form and Boyata came in and did well.
