Like others I just don't get the point in his signing if he isn't going to play when fit. If he isn't fit, then it's odd that he's being left out altogether on a consistent basis. Rodgers was saying we were only looking at the right kind of quality during January - yet to see it with Compper.

Maybe we signed him to be a defensive coach alongside Kolo and Kennedy instead of a first team player? :fear:

The 32-year-old German made his first Hoops appearance in the 3-0 win over Morton in the Scottish Cup at Parkhead on March 3. And hasn’t been sighted since.

Rodgers said: “It was difficult for Marvin because he was injured in Dubai during the winter break, which put him out for a while.

“During that period, young Kris has come into the team and been absolutely outstanding. So, there have been others ahead of Marvin.

“His qualities are pretty clear for us, his experience and his
way of working with the younger guys in training. Of course, he wants to play as well, but these aren’t fitness games we’re playing.
“I’m certainly not sentimental. We need to pick a team that gets the results. I’ll make a change if I don’t like the way we’re playing.

“It’s always been irrespective of age for me. When I first came in Kris was a midfielder and I thought his best position would be centre-half. Maybe in Norway he could play midfield, but he has big possibilities at centre-half.

“I knew he wasn’t going to get the games there for me at first, so we loaned him to Kilmarnock to
get that positional
experience. But it was more so he had to head the ball, because I knew he would be under
pressure with them.

“That’s important if he’s going to do well in the British game. He did well there, came back to us and looked as if he’d developed as a man. Then it was just about timing and when to put him in.

“He did well in some of the
Champions League qualifiers but still needed more time to develop. Now he’s in the team with a better understanding of the position.

“He has everything. His potential is huge. He’s 6ft 5in, quick, can play football. He’s a very bright boy as well, he knows there’s still a lot of learning for him. He’s got this great hunger to get better, which I love in players, and he’s not even 20 yet.

“Marvin is a good guy, I like him. Hopefully, in his time here he gets a chance to show his qualities. But that’s only if other players aren’t playing so well.”

If he is so poor or unfit that he cannot get in the match day squad, let alone the starting XI, when we only have two competent centre-halves available to us, we would be as well releasing him from his contract now.

I was kind of hoping that it was just an injury that was keeping him out of the squad.

Thank * we signed Jack Hendry.

So, was he brought in as a coach?

Absolute shambles from Rodgers, "Only if players aren't playing so well" - Boyata has been mince for months!

If he cant get into this defence then he should call it a day. Nonsense man.

For * sake can this * really be any worse than Boyata? Probably not, once leagues won would like to see him at least get a few starts

Sounds like he's saying he's not any better than what we already had, so, basically if Ajer and Hendry play well we're never going to see him. Sounds like a kop out.

No reason he can't be given a chance once the league is wrapped up.

Rodgers is protecting Boyata far too much, Lustig as well for that fact. I want to see a back 3 of Hendry, Ajer, Compper.

Boyata and Lustig have not been anywhere good enough this season and Compper isn’t getting younger so just give him a chance.

I want to see compper left of a back 3, he's the only left footed CB we have I thought that was the whole reason we brought him in.

A 32 y/o former German internationalist with 100's of appearances at the top level shouldn't need a chance when the leagues wrapped, especially with the competition at CB - Two kids and two CB's having nightmare seasons.
