To be fair Roberts also done the same, Roberts played a pass right to Motherwell, twice got it took off him on the wing and when passed a ball with about 10 yards of space and time battered the cross into the air and landed it behind the goal.

Both of them were a mixed bag.

As a supporter of the club I think the more we get for him the better for the club. I hope that at least a portion of the fee will see it's way into our transfer kitty

True, but I don't think we'd get much for him regardless if he played the rest of the season or not.
The team needs a player like armstrong who can actually play a pass or score a goal. Being able to chase isn't enough at our level.

Aye 1 of them was the same ball he played and we scored against them there last year that wee reverse pass to Armstrong. This time it never came off..

He hit the bar and skinned his man numerous time's. Hit a bad cross granted but he was much, much better than Armstrong who was stinking for me and played it out and easy 10 yard passes he * around 3 on the trot..

I agree. My point was that playing will offer the team very little and only decrease his value. He seems to be playing for himself and for a bigger move. Even at this he has been unsuccessful.

End product wasn’t there, but could see what he offers, he was at times sprinting at full speed off the ball through the middle.

    We have missed that.

He does my box in these days, his passing is brutal.

'Armstrong’s situation this summer at Celtic seems unlikely to be the same seesaw of last year.

The player eventually signed a one-year extension to his contract at the end of August as the end of the transfer window loomed but the short-term nature of the deal meant that it was always going to be back on the table at this stage.

However, whereas last term the midfielder had made himself a pivotal part of Brendan Rodgers’ treble winning side in the latter half of the campaign, this season his contribution hasn’t been quite so notable.

That largely comes down to missing a significant chunk as he recovered from surgery, while it would be fair to suggest that his form would have been compromised in the opening half of the season before he went under the knife.

Rodgers seems unruffled by the situation which would lend itself to an impression that the player may decide to look elsewhere at the end of the season. It is a situation he was unwilling to shed any light on – “I’m not going to talk about that just now” – but whatever comes next, the finale of the campaign will give the player the opportunity to build up some momentum. With Celtic vying for a back-to-back Treble, a fully fit Armstrong would be a significant addition to the Celtic midfield. The next month will see Celtic bring those ambitions into sharp focus with the club expected to seal their seventh successive title imminently while a Scottish Cup semi-final tie against Rangers awaits.'

    -----------------

Hardly surprising but very non-committal from Stuart. Makes me all the more angry that he was getting picked ahead of Ntcham. Punt.

He's doing the right thing by not talking about it. He just needs to focus on getting a game and playing well for us first. Then he can think about his next move.

If it was his intention to stay then he'd be vocal about it. To me it just removes all doubt that he's angling for a move away this summer.

He's angling for something you have to keep in mind he is not a Celtic fan so will have no emotional connection with the club for him its just another team and he will want the best deal possible,

I’ve seen a figure of £7m being banded about. I would take that in a heartbeat.

With a year left in his contract I'd be delighted with half that

I’ve got issue with players wanting to move on if they think its a step further in their career and most likely wanting to play in EPL. If he’s not committed to us he doesn’t play it’s as simple as that, got no hard feelings towards Armstrong.

Domestically he can be a game changer for us, then he got found out in Europe. We’ve got McGregor, Ntcham, Eboue and Rogic all there ahead of him in the pecking order just now.

Personally I feel we as a club and support are pretty fair with players. If a player has given us good service and shown the right attitude throughout, they generally leave with little animosity.

Stuart is entitled to get himself a good deal but after 18 months of rotten performances when he first came in (albeit out of position and in a struggling squad) I thought there would've been a little more humility on his part and appreciation of the impact Brendan had in turning his career around.

Dragging on contract talks last summer and the half-hearted performances since leave a sour taste in the mouth. As long as we have received decent money then we've never stood in the way of a player moving for a bigger salary.

The way he's went about things is the whole wrong way, in my opinion. He could've signed a 2/3 year deal in the summer, knuckled down and continued playing at the high level he was doing and he'd then have plenty offers down south. He'd then be sold and leave with the best wishes of the club. Not being a Celtic fan has nothing to do with it, Petrov signed a 5 year deal to ensure we got top dollar then got a £7 million move to Villa not long after.

I won't be sad to see him go, I just hope we maximise the fee in the summer. I have a suspicion that Celtic will be the pinnacle of his career. He's not as good as he or his agent think he is.

For a guy who has only played well for about 6 months his lack of commitment amazes me. I dare say he believes the media hype of last season

Spot on, hate when we have players at the club that want to leave but go about it the wrong way. Sign a 2-3 year contract and at least make the club some money, same with Rogic, Boyata (if anyone wants him) Dembele, Sinclair. Could see all of them leaving when the transfer window opens apart from Sinclair.

Given he will be into the final year of his contract that would be an amazing fee for us to get. Can't see it really. Personally I rate Armstrong and would rather see him sign a new deal with us.

£7m would be daylight robbery on our part after his form this season.

I agree, but I also don't remember petrov stalling on deal after one a * first year and in injury miss this year he owes the club imo, I like Armstrong I think he is been a big part of our team and a first pick ahead of rogic and McGregor, has anybody showed any interest in him I can't recall
