The Famine being openly joked about by people all over the world as if it wasn't a * tragedy that took the lives of men women and children.

Phonecalls i hate in general but especially when the misses wants to talk *, usually ends with,
'' i take it you dont want to talk to me then''. got to be nice though
But phones are irritating, your just minding your own business thinking of something then you get distracted and have no choice but to talk to the person

What * me off is when journos and or "historians" etc refer to the Famine as an ( almost isolated ) unavoidable tragedy in an otherwise benign relationship between the Irish and their invaders.

The Famine was the inevitable result of the ethnic cleansing strategy of the English/ Normans since 1200 AD to drive "native" Irish people off their land. They gloss over 600 years of dispossession, oppression and massacres, by a nation who achieved everything they held by treachery and butchering weaker groups.

    History rewritten.

They are. Unexpected phone calls from people you havn't heard from in a while can be nice, but for someone who you are going to see in an hour or two, they are just strange and out of place. My partner usually calls me on her 40 minute commute. I'm praying the novelty factor of buying a new car with bluetooth will fade. Like you've mentioned, I have to drop everything I'm doing to appease this persons need(desire?) for communication - it takes control away from you for fear of causing an unpleasant situation.

Mines has the bluetooth in the car aswell, same problem:56:.
Theres a huge difference when your speaking to a mate on the phone who just wants to know, are you about and what time, compared to my misses who wants to know everything about my day.
I dunno i just dont like being on the phone unless its straightforward, much prefer speaking to people in person about complicated stuff.

Ex used to ring me every night we werent staying together and insist on hour to an hour and a half phone conversations where I cant do anything else but sit there and try come up with * to talk to her about.

I'll text ye fine but the whole point of us not staying in the same gaff that night is that we can do our own personal * like play the PS4 or watch telly, canny do that with them in your ear and a fight will break out when you try come up with an excuse to put the phone down.

Phone calls with the missus really are a pain. Like she’ll just chat constant * for over an hour. If the conversation was transcribed, my only contribution would just be a “Yeah.” every 50 lines or so.

As has been posted prior though, they really are tedious as *, and there isn’t a way to avoid or reject them without coming across as not caring or giving a *.

The hardest part is actually coming off the phone to her. Half of the time I tell her I have to go and she still manages to keep me on the phone for another half an hour with pure emotional * which I’m compelled to listen too and definitely can’t hang up without seeming like a *!

Even just writing this has * me off so I’m gonna have a word without her about this when I see her tonight actually!

I think I say "Bye" at least 20 times before I actually get to hang up.
