why does everyone want to a see a back 3 ?

if a team plays 1 striker we have 3 back / wasted defending that one guy and because they are central defenders then they are not the most technical of footballers ?

as opposed to the normal 2 fullbacks and 2 center backs where you can have the full backs bombing on like SEXY BRAZIL and your 2 center backs dealing with the normally 1 striker ?

Will arguably be the toughest summer of his career, will most likely have to build the team from scratch.

De Vries,Gordon, Lustig, Boyata and Simunovic need replaced

Roberts will leave and probably not have his loan renewed from Man City's perspective that is.

Rogic, looks like he wants to leave in the summer.

Dembele will probably go, would be surprised if he didn't.

    Eduard's future looks uncertain

Might not be a bad thing, I think it needs freshening up, defence is useless and we have become very predictable.. Needs backing from the board mind

He played it exactly like Tierney without the wuality. Hendry was on the right and tucking in when McGregor was going forward. It’s lopsided but its the exact way we play with Tierney and Lustig. That’s Rodgers back 4. It changed second half.

We needed a goal, they had 10 men, he subbed a striker.....what? why?
if last week was a tactical masterclas sthis week was clearly not, if you're subbing Edourad then surely the only option is Griffiths, I like roberts and sinclair, dont care about Armstrong but he can get the odd goal now and then but when you need a goal from nowhere its Griffiths you can count on.

    also for anyone interested:
Thats 30 games now, Rodgers still does not have 4 wins in a row in the league this season, our biggest winning run is 6 games way back in august (2 in the league, 2 in the ucl qualifiers and 1 in the league cup) we've had two winning runs of 4 since then in september and january but they have been combinations of league, cup and europe.

the last time we went a league season without winning 4 league games in a row was 1994/95.

The team have been so off form this season it's unreal.

Not the full story though is it.
That season we weren't in the CL, we finished with 51 pts we are on 69 now & played in the CL.
We are also on course for the treble!!!!

Jesus, if we lose all those players I hope it's not till after the qualifiers. No way are we qualifying without them as any replacements would have to be something special to settle in that quickly.

Anyway, it's up to us if we want to let Moussa go. How long is left on Tam's contract? If it's more than two years he's going nowhere. Might be time to let Moussa go cause once it's down to a year left he won't leave cause the money he'd make on a free would be enormous. Still though that would mean he'd have to play his best football that year if he wants mega bucks so if it means us qualifying then maybe keep him till the Bosman cause UCL money covers his transfer costs. It is in the UCL he will get noticed most too and he likes scoring in big games. So I'm not sure he's leaving.

Gordon doesn't need replaced yet, Bain looks like he could be first or second choice with Gordon fighting for the spot in the meantime. There is no rush.

Agree Roberts will probably be off to pastures new unfortunately but it would be good if City sold him for a decent price cuase he's still learning and is another player who could be worth a lot more with another couple years under Brendan's tutalege. It's a shame he's been hampered with injuries.

Boyata will probably go and I don't think it would negatvely impact our game even if we didn't replace him right away.

Not sure Simunovic has to go. Kind of player we have to replace before we sell I think cause he can be good.

If Eduouard's loan is only for a year then it's a real possibility he'll be off although PSG might encourage him to stay another year if it means getting European experience.

I'm still confused what our transfer policy is because we must have a few quid in the bank after two UCL seasons but is it the wages that are the problem when signing £10m players? So it doesn't matter if we've got £40m lying in the bank we still have to stick to £5m players at most cause of the relative wage demands?

Looks we're going to have to settle for a double treble.

We should make an offer to extend Edouard's loan or buy him off of PSG, especially if Dembele does leave. This would be my only attacking-minded full-time signing in the summer. Other than trying to keep Roberts maybe, we should exclusively focus on defenders, and midfield destroyers.

Rodgers must demand support from the board, but also not spread the cash on too many players. 2-3 quality players with defensive skills are necessary if we want to see the CL, and regain the lofty standards of last season's domination.

Aye I agree with your priority, defenders a necessity, then one touch midfielders and forwards after that.
We definitely have to find players who will help bring us the verve of Brendan's first season back.

Some woeful performances this season, not a big fan of the constant chopping and changing all the time. Feel it leaves the team lacking as a cohesive unit. Some great individual players we have, as a team not so great if that makes sense. Defo need a couple of quality defenders. Leigh Griffith should get a proper run in the team when fit, he deserves it more over Dembele that's for sure. Trebles on still so all good :ynwacelti

I agree Griff should get more games, the problem with Dembele is even when he's playing below par he is reliable in the big games so I reckon that's why he gets more game time.

Griff is one player we have to keep happy though cause when all the big stars come and go we need him to keep faith in us cause he's going to win us the leagues if we want 10iar. Might not do so well in Europe but Griff knows the Scottish scene better than anyone else.

IF- and it's still an IF- all those guys do go and he isn't backed then he will walk. I have no doubt about it.

I honestly believe he is backed but their are certain criteria any Celtic manager will have to subscribe to in the future and that's as I mentioned before the transfer ceiling because whether we like it or not I think we have to practise safe accounting as a gamble going wrong once would put a dent in our budget and also set a bad precedent.

That's why I can't see Brendan getting rid of so many players at once. He can sign who he wants as long as they're £5m approx and don't want much more than £30 grand a week. Mind MON left us a bit sore after he left players on long contracts which messed with our budget a bit. One of our greatest eras of course but just saying the board will remember that and be determined it doesn't happen again.

If anyone can be successful under those restraints it's Brendan. Thing is, he has to be able to guarantee players he'll be here for at least two more years so they can learn as much as possible from him. If he's not sure about the Arsenal offer then it'll be hard to sign players because his ability to get us into Europe nevermind his guru qualities will determine the outcome of any potential quality signing.

I do expect him to honour his contract though and be her two more years at least. There's only so long he can refuse that kind of salary but also the transfer budget that will let him test his strategy against the best teams and seriously challenge for European trophies.

Agree! IF he doesn't get support this summer from the board, it's almost certainly next season will probably be his last here. That's why this summers dealings is really a top priority for him! After we win the cups of course!
