It's that passing in about in front of our box that has cost us stupid goals with the keeper being of his line .... he wants to pass from the back then just use a deep cb to start it of no the * keeper

I don't think we are an offensive minded team. We are a possession minded team. Offensive teams try to score goals. Our amount of shots on target, even on matches we win, is ridiculous. Against Zenit at home it was one shot for like 60 minutes. There is no criativity, flair, dribbling, just this passing to the side bullshit. I was already annoyed by this when we were winning. This is not beautiful, skillful football, this is one of the most coward timewasting tactics. But fine, a team needs to win. Now we are not even there, this bullshit needs to be contested. Many players are regressing. We signed an incompetent nearly retired keeper solely on the base of how can he take goal kicks. This isnt gaelic football ffs.

It’s not a game of FIFA or Football Manager.

Brendan isn’t controlling the players. If he says they are too sideways and backwards then he’s told them to be more direct and thy haven’t done it.

He’s bang on about being patient and going backwards to start again. The lack of patience from the crowd last Sunday angered me. I get it, you want goals. But if the pass isn’t there you’ve got to keep possession of the ball. No point in giving it back to the other team. Especially when openings are hard come by in this league because of teams sitting so deep unless we are in full flow.

BRENDAN RODGERS last night warned Celticsupporters that progress in Europe will become even more difficult because the financial gulf between his team and the continent's elite is getting bigger.

The 3-0 defeat by Zenit St Petersburg, which ended Celtic’s Europa League campaign, evoked perhaps the first real criticism of Rodgers since he joined the club in May 2016 given the meek way his side surrendered in Russia on Thursday night.

However, Rodgers made the point that while he remains hugely ambitious about what his Celtic can achieve, the reality is that forces outwith anyone’s control count against even Scotland’s richest club competing with those such as Zenit, whose resources dwarf that of the SPFL Premiership champions.

When asked if it would become harder to come against ever increasing budgets, the Celtic manager said: “It will do. I think we have to keep fighting. That is important for us. We’ve had a lot of great memories this season, both in Europe in the Champions League and in the league but that’s because we have had great opportunities and in the main we take those opportunities.

“On Thursday night, I felt it was an opportunity on the back of how well we played last week. But we have to keep creating the opportunities. We go away, we look at games, we ask how we can improve, and each year it gets more difficult.

“Next year’s qualification for a Scottish team to get to the Champions League becomes even more difficult. But that’s the level we are at, so we just have to keep working.”

Celtic do seem to have hit a glass ceiling in terms of European improvement and as Rodgers said, it is not going to be easier for them next season.

The club are cash rich and one way to improve is to spend big in the summer; however, that is an unlikely path for them to go down after years of frugality.

And when asked how far away he is from making Celtic a team which can offer a better challenge in either the Champions League or Europa League, Rodgers said: “Listen, it’s very hard to say. It gets tougher each year. I suppose it’s managing expectancy, really.

“If any Scottish team qualifies for the Champions League, that’s a big achievement. Then you are going to then go in and you look at Bayern Munich winning 5-0 against Besiktas.

“And we’re normally in with two teams at least of real, real quality. So, I think Champions League qualification is a big achievement for a Scottish team. If you can then either get into European football after that, in the Champions League ideally or into the Europa League, you would hope you could make the steps.

“If you look at these games against Zenit, we were clearly much better than them last week but our consistency wasn’t so good, so you end up going out.

“Year on year you have to try to improve and we hope that if we can be in European football we can do that. But there is always going to be the balance, we are always going to have young players, that’s where we’re at really. But it’s great to see them develop and flourish. We hope next year in Europe we can take more steps forward.”

To be fair the manager won’t say how he feels in a interview but he should have got torn into that team that played in Russia, it was so poor and I feel for the people that actually paid money to travel and watch that

Spot on. If you look at the financial differential between Zenit and us, the result was predictable. It wasn't the fact that we lost over 2 legs - it was the performance in the second leg that worries me. After the dismal showing in the last old firm match (lucky to draw imo) - I thought the team were tired but after 3 weeks off and a trip to Dubai - we'd come back ready to go.

Instead, we have been worse if anything. While Sinclair is our top scorer, the truth is that he has been poor for most of the season and anonymous in many matches. Simunovic is simply not good enough and a disaster when he's not playing well. Lustig is done - Gamboa is not the greatest but he deserves a run in the team instead of Lustig.

I'm not jumping on the Dembele criticism bandwagon - he has had a disrupted season and when the team play to his strengths - he's quality (I'm not going to argue with Zidane +Deschamps!).

The injury to Gordon was unfortunate but we've been shown up for not investing in a top class goalkeeper - I would drop De Vries for Aberdeen with no hesitation.

If the rumour about Compper breaking down again is true - I'm furious. Apparently his injury record in the past wasn't great - so far we've paid 900k for someone who hasn't kicked a ball for us - questions should be asked.

I just hope that, with Rogic, Paddy, Armstrong and Griff coming back, we can steam ahead and get the Treble done.

I don't expect Celtic to spend 10 million on a player but serious business needs done in the summer.

We need A GK, RB, at least 1 CB, a winger (I think Man City will sell Paddy to a EPL club) and a striker (I would be happy to keep Moussa, Griff + Edouard on loan but I think PSG won't allow it and Moussa may move on).

If Rogic's demands are too greedy - then punt him and Armstrong as well. Frankly, assuming we invest in suitable replacements - I wouldn't be bothered if De Vries, Lustig, Simunovic, Boyota, Rogic and Armstrong were moved on. I don't think we'll have any choice with Paddy and possibly Moussa also.

Does anyone think that Brendan might be starting to think he's taken this team as far as he can, and that he might start looking for another club? This has been a season of frustration for many; not so much the results, which are impressive, but the manner in which the team is playing, and the incredible pressure that comes with managing Celtic. Like so many, I really want us to win that ten in a row. I realise we can't presume anything, nothing is guaranteed, and every club is always up for the challenge when they play us. But that ten in a row is such a talismanic ambition. It would mean so much. The worry is that, for whatever reasons, we are not as dominant in the SPFL as we were. Our lack of flair and creativity on the field, where we seem more scared of losing than of trying to win with aggressive, attacking football, is really bringing us back to the field. This is really worrying. We should be able to put most teams away, playing in a style that other teams find threatening. I'm not sure anyone regards as overly threatening at the moment. The trouble is, once you start playing this ticky tacky possession based football, it can be a mould that is really hard to break. We all know Brendan is a great manager of our club. It's where he's meant to be. But with so few players in the squad that really understand what it means to play for Celtic, it's difficult to instil that passion. Our team really needs to somehow rekindle that passion that was so brilliant last season.

    No.

I don't think we are anywhere near that stage yet. However it is a worry of mine and has been since the very first moment he walked through the door. Another season in Europe like this full of frustrations and little sign of serious improvement or another couple transfer windows of him not getting the right players could perhaps be enough for something to trigger in his mind.

By all accounts though, from what we have heard, he is extremely happy at this current moment in time.

He knew when he signed up what he'd have to do though. He knows the constraints he is under in regards to transfers, and also knows the challenge of competing in Europe. There was/is always going to be a ceiling for us in modern football and I'd be surprised if he is pushed away any time soon.

He won't be here forever, no manager will be. I'd be delighted if we got 5 years out of him.

Again with the financial gulf statement he might have a point if it was psg or Munich barca or premier league .... We might not win but we should be able to compete first leg at home we were superb and felt although we had scored should have scored more fast forward two the second leg it was three players that cost us cb gk and rb positions everyone asked to be replaced even back in the summer which would have cost 12 million to do we have over thirty million banked so Yeh teams out their do spend more and over spend in zenits case but the big problem is the board do not and never will share the same ambition as the fans irrelevant the finance comments just a smoke screen from what's really happening.and if it's Brendan that's saying this then he is ovb doesn't share the same ambitions either company man rather than the coach we need

Its possible that he may have taken the team as far as he can.
It happens and we could be witnessing it happen to Rodgers,we all see the team putting in poor performances and there doesnt seem to be any clear reason as to why.
I hope what ever the reason its sorted quickly as we could go into a period where we lose a few games in the league.
Im hoping like others we turn things round starting against Aberdeen but if im being honest i think we could struggle against them.

Harry redknapp isn’t the long term solution. Roy hodgson is more suitable for us.

Fair comment, a bright young manager who plays positive football, great shout, think his uncle was in IRA so that pretty much makes him a Celtic fan

He’s not too young, otherwise naivety could become a problem.
The IRA rumours are just that.

Both decent shouts but my pick would be Owen Coyle. That guy is doing a tremendous job up in the highlands and would never knock us back if we approached him.
