Seen that as well, hear it every year. Especially when a new manager comes in. “Brendan Rodgers set to be handed major war chest in the summer” pish. Believe it when I see it.

We heard he'd get £20m first season so won't hold my breath.

Unless he's went to the board and said he wants it desperately.

Strange, that rumour seems to start every season when season book renewal is on the horizon :56:.

Celtic released information about them today funnily enough!

I've been patient with the poor performances this season, I think a lot of us have.

But it's running out now, I expect to see a massive improvement in domestic form for the run-in.

We need a return to the standards of last season, no more excuses.

This pish about not signing anybody unless they’ll improve the team is utter dug *.

Most right backs would’ve been an improvement on Lustig.

Plenty keepers out there better than both Gordon & DDV that would fit our budget.

Why the * did we not improve our squad when it was clearly obvious we needed it?

    * shambles.

Manager hails Celtic's transfer window business
By: Mark Henderson on 01 Feb, 2018 16:07

    • BRENDAN Rodgers has declared his delight with Celtic’s business in the transfer window and thanked the board and his recruitment team for securing the targets he wanted.

The Hoops brought their number of signings in January to five after they completed a deadline-day double swoop from Dundee, with the acquisitions of Scott Bain and Jack Hendry.

German internationalist, Mavin Compper, Belgium Under-21 internatioanlist, Charly Musonda, and St Mirren playmaker, Lewis Morgan were the other players to arrive in Paradise.

No fewer than 10 players headed in the other direction during a busy month for the Bhoys as the manager shaped his squad for the rest of the season and beyond.

And speaking to the media, the Hoops boss paid particular tribute to Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell and the rest of the Celtic board

He said: “It’s a day (deadline day) that’s clearly very busy. When you have that level of activity going on it’s of course quite complex.

“Today I have to say a big thank you to Dermot, Peter and the board at Celtic. January was going to be an important month for us and everything I asked for I was able to get.

“In terms of experience, quality and players we think we can develop, they delivered everything I wanted so it’s a great credit to them and our recruitment team.”
    ----------------------

In making that statement, Rodgers absolves the board of failings and places them entirely on his own shoulders.

We needed a proper GK, a commanding CB and a dominant RB.

We're 22 months into Rodgers tenure, we should be seeing far better than this.

Has rightfully taken the plaudits for the mostly great things he's done since he came here including last weeks game but he's as much to blame tonight as the players, resting half the team on sunday clearly done us no favours whatsoever and he only seems to sign backup players for positions where we clearly need major improvements. Also have to question his ability to motivate this team for Europe we're more often than not complete lightweights who collapse the minute we concede a goal.

Cant * understand Rodgers. Its beeen staring us in the face since the the start of last summers transfer window that our defence is nowhere near good enough for Europe yet all he had done to fix this is sign a 20 year old from Dundee and a guy who cant play in Europe. * shocking, our defence is a shambles. I blame Rodgers for tonight.

Serious questions need to be asked, he’s supposedly happy with that squad, either he’s lying or he doesn’t have a clue.

Getting record scorelines past is in Europe is teaching us * all when we come up against teams we are perfectly capable of beating and still play *.

We’ve gone backwards this season, we’re lucky we had an anderlecht team in turmoil or we would have been dead last again.

Celtic managers are judged on European records and Rodgers falls way short sadly.

Go back to this thread at the end of january and I got a kicking on here for suggesting exactly this. I dont believe that he doesnt have a clue, he does. I still absolutely believe that the club made no effort to spend anything close to what is required to compete at this level. Right or wrong it was an active choice.

Indeed. We finished 3rd with a wimper. Some say just finishing 3rd is "progress" but given the nature of our defeats i'd call it "faux progress".
