Nir Bitton has been added to Celtic’s extensive list of casualties after Brendan Rodgers revealed that the Hoops midfielder’s season is over.
The Israeli internationalist requires surgery to correct a knee injury that he has toiled with in recent weeks.
His absence will be a blow to Rodgers who already has a host of players in the treatment room.
“Nir Bitton will probably be out for the season which is a blow for us,” said Rodgers. “He has an issue with his knee and probably needs an operation and that is probably him for the rest of the season.
“In terms of injuries overall this year has been tough for us but it is a shame for him because he has been an important member of our squad. We are hoping some of the others will be back sooner rather than later.
“Overall, this year as been, in terms of injuries, tough.
“It’s a shame for Nir as he’s a very important member of our squad, but some of the others will be back sooner rather than later.
“It’s a slight issue with his knee that he has put himself through.
“We had a look at it last week in London and it was deemed he needs the operation on it.”

    This is actual ridiculous now.

I've been watching Celtic for 18 years now and this is easily the worst injury crisis I've ever seen.

    * *. This is beyond belief now.

Don’t remember that many injuries last season but this season is ridiculous.

It’s not even short term injuries either. It has been one long term injury after another.

I posted all their injuries in the injury thread and the weeks they have been out must run into £1m this season easy!

It is starting to look like not coincidence now. Could it be the half-finished pitch? Just throwing ideas out.

We have some of the best sports scientists and fitness experts in the game working at Celtic right now, I'm confident that if there were some "fixable" issue they'd have identified that by now.

As it stands, I'm putting it down to rotten luck, as has happened with many a team over the course of football history.

Its surely beyond the realms of coincidence now? With the exception Hayes and Gordon, am I correct in saying that none of the other injuries happened as a result of challenges in-game? Something has to be looked at, at the very least.

If £10 million is even close to the correct figure then that's scary.

Sorry Bertie the £10m was a typo meant to type £1m :56:

We dont know acutal wages but if you go on what "you hear or is reported" then

    Boyata 12 weeks and counting - Knee and Hamstring - £15,000 x 12weeks = £180,000
    Dembele 8 weeks - Hamstring - £30,000 x 8 weeks = £240,000
    Griffiths 10 weeks and counting - Calf's - £18,000 10 weeks = £180,000
    Svitachenko 12 weeks - Knee - £15,000 x 12 weeks = £180,000
    Roberts 14 weeks and counting - Hamstring twice = £15,000 x 14 weeks = £210,000
    Rogic 12 weeks - Knee - £12,000 x 12 weeks = £144,000
    Compper 4 weeks and counting - Calf - £15,000 x 4 weeks = £60,000
    Lustig 3 weeks - Achillies - £18,000 x 3 weeks = £54,000
    Hayes 20 weeks - Broken Leg - £7,000 x 20 weeks = £140,000
    Bitton 18 weeks - Knee - £17,000 x =£306,000
    Gordon 10 weeks - Crucicate - £20,000 x 12 weeks = £240,000
    Ralston 16 weeks and counting - Knee - £4,000 x 16 weeks = £64,000
    Armstong 4 weeks and counting - Hernia - £22,000 x 4 weeks = £88,000
Simunovic Every * 2nd week - Knee - * knows with JOZO the BOZO

If that is the correct wages its closer to £2m exlucing bonuses etc!

Got to agree with Slippy we have some of the best in the business, most our injuries seem like impact injuries this season even Gordon was impact from Efe. Hernia anyone can get that and pulled hammys with "fast players" is just one of those things. Could the knee injuries be degenerative or fatigue due to the amount of games played thats what i am leaning towards.

That looks more realistic now haha
Still a huge outlay for the club especially when you have to include medical expenses on top.

I actually thought we'd sell him in January with Compper coming in and then Hendry. Obviously the unforseen injuries have been a disaster at the back and he's completely surplus in midfield..

Armstrong as well I thought was destined to go and now that's another 2 that will barely play if again this season and price tags probably drastically gone down for when both inevitably leave in the summer..

aye to be close or possibly over £2m per season thats a lot of cash, obviously these are spectulative amounts but i would think they are close to the amounts paid.
