Bar the first window under Rodgers it has been pathetic since, for the amount of supposed money we have, we flex like we are skint.

 

Morgan will be in our squad in the summer mate, regardless if St.Mirren get promoted or not.

Is it really though?

Of course I'm saying this from a biased standpoint but we offer many things that other clubs can't offer: A chance to win trophies, Champions League football, a matchday atmosphere that would rival most in the world and a gateway for players to the richest league in the world.

Of course some will turn their noses up, the likes of Guidetti etc. but for most sensible aspirational young players we're a good move.

To say this is the reason we can't buy players is just giving the board another excuse, if a target doesn't want to come....move onto the next one. Peter Houston said our database of players for each position was frightening, therefore if we're identifying a weakness in the team then work your way down the list of preferred candidates.

This humming and hawing sitting on a pile of cash. while the team deteriorates is unacceptable.

 

why do I get the feeling that on Thursday morning well all be reading "we dont sign players for the sake of signing players"
or "we had a few candidates but we couldn't get them over the line, we will revisit in in the summer" or the ever popular "we only wanted players that would make us better and compete for places"

meanwhile we conceded more goals than ANY other CL side in the group stages. I dont wana hear that * about "look at the group we got". WE have a fucktard of a goalkeeper and a sicknote CB, a work in progress CB a brain fart CB and past it right back

That's a warning shot to the board, as I said yesterday I don't expect anything and his comments with a pinch of salt.

The board shouldn't be * about with this guy or the fans, we have sold out season tickets, sold out match day tickets for various games this season.

Lawwell should be in awe of Rodgers and within reason gives him what he wants for the squad!

 

It's not exactly a hard sell moving to Celtic, win trophies, the chance of Champions League Football(raise you own profile by performing). The player just has to look at VVD, Wanyama and Forster for examples

 

100% agree with all of this I've said it a few times myself.

It' frightenng to think that fans are still just accepting this * we can't sign players because of this.

Oh but that team can do this and that team can do that, maybe the can but like you said look at what we can offer.....

I think these fans seem to forget that.

If we all thought like them we should just say oh well the games a bogey no playing anymore and pack it in.

 

Aye it's very defeatist. No reasonable Celtic fan is expecting us to sign the likes of Coutinho but guys like Twumasi who have shown up well in Europe this season should be within our reach. He'd absolutely jump at the chance to move from Kazakhstan to Scotland and is well within budget.

For many of these young guys the EPL is the ultimate goal and all we need to do is point at our record of helping players reach that goal. Wanyama, VVD, Forster, Hooper, Ledley, Ki...even Hooiveld.

As unpalatable as that may be for some Celtic fans to be regarded as a stepping stone, if we can have a couple seasons of excellent performances out of them and then make good profit then it's a no brainer.

 

Yeap, like I have stated its indoctrinated into a large proportion of the support and when they state all that * it makes excuses for the Board to carry out the simple tasks.

 

The Board are too authoritarian. In line with the biscuit tin mentality. Witholding cash for no reason. That’s why this Board isn’t as good as people make out, it’s clear Lawwell doesn’t learn from mistakes because his ego is bigger than the Club. “No room for debate” as he stated.

I know that Minty. Its just I have read similar comments from a few folk now and thought I would ask, although it is a pointless question.

It just read like a suggestion/idea, they could try, that would make all the difference.

 

It reminds me of the story with Tommy Burns, Fergus McCann and David Ginola.

Ginola was set to sign until Fergus McCann warned him about having to play games against the likes of Falkirk. Wish he had kept his mouth shut.
