    Identifying players is one thing.

Getting them to sign is a far tougher task I’d imagine.

Near took a heart attack last night. My bhoy came in and I thought he said Celtic signed Dzeko. Broke out in sweats and started trembling. Chelsea *.:56:

Precisely my point earlier in the thread. There's no point in just signing people for the sake of it. We have the best squad in Scotland already by a long way. It has to be the RIGHT signings, not just good players, but those who will fit into the manager's way of playing, and improve on what we have. We've wasted million on dud signings in the past.

Then either we are really tight * and clubs are not playing ball. Or we are chasing targets that are simply unrealistic.

I'm going for the former. No chance we can't acquire some reasonable players at a decent level that can come in and make a quick impact and improve the overall quality of the squad. We need a winger or a No.10 for a creative outlet, no one can tell us there is not a player within Europe that can improve us without breaking the bank.

If there isn't (and same goes for a CB) then we may as well give up and concede this is it. No chance we can't bring in a quality CB on a fair wage for a fair price that will be happy to come play here and win medals, play in europe, develop his game and seek a bigger move elsewhere.

Being realistic we are not going to sign any headliners for a rattle at Europa. And poor football or not we will walk the league so can see us sign 1/2 mid level players to freshen up for second half.

Unfortunately, that is most likely. Which will just make the CL playoffs even more of a * to play through, again.
Don't see us making early moves in summer, with a world cup on and all that goes with our default line these days "wait till later in window when clubs are willing to do deals" bullshit.

Doubt anything will happen sadly. In order for us not take take a doing off Zenit we would need to bring in 3 more quality players at least. Lets not forget they spent nearly 80 million at the start of the campaign and our second in a league 10 times stronger than ours!

I can't see Brendan being happy with the lack of funds, like it or not those c**ts in Govan our having a much better window than us! Needs sorted pronto

Dead, and then any half decent prospect who may get a start for his nation is suddenly overhyped and priced.

If anything, makes this window more important to get the deals done and ready, before players have breakout tournaments etc. Some risk involved, but with expert scouts, surely we can reduce that risk.

A better window than propbably the whole league, a better window than probably 95% of clubs in the Uk. But only because their players coming in on loan are of a relevantly * level as they are on. Their transfers of 4 loan players this window alone isn't inspriring at all for a club who want to (surely) continue to grow their footballing department - if not their financial department to bring in some players with a resale value. It is short term guff. Fortunately for them, short term guff that is better than they had. But it aint any standard of quality to make a decent league run.

    * off with that 80 million pish,it wont affect the result what so ever.Druissi and rigoni havent made much of an impact yet,but paredas is a top midfielder and probably there best signing.zenit have been underachieving for years no good spending all that money and not winning anything.there team looks good on paper nothing else.there last trophy was the russian cup 2 year ago.you wonder what the * zenit have been spending there money on because its not reaping any rewards what so ever, there scouting department is a shambles,or there just a badly run operation.

Anyway, wonder if we will replace him?

Without an injection of quality it makes the CL daunting, rather than exciting.

The gap is huge but the fact we don't look like even trying to bridge it a little makes you think, what's the point.

I understand the restrictions on wage structure and in the market we operate, but surely we must be able to 'sell' the club to players.

Maybe getting smashed by such big margins in the CL has been counterproductive to image of the club.

Congerton and BR have the reputation to attract suitable players and both are putting their reputations on the line.

This window has been the worst for a good while, as so much is expected and promised by BR. There's still time tho..

Rodgers has said we will if he goes! But on Tuesday night no bids so clearly one has come in last 36 hours. I would expect more or is the cynic in me thinking Rodgers is saying that to drum up interest to get him punted....

Having a better window than us? Only of you count taking * players on loan..... Would you want Celtic to have went out and done those exact deals with those players? Would you want any of them in our squad? What they do is irrelevant to us. And, their window has been a total embarrassment, with trying to get players for £0 upfront etc.

We need to be carefully picking the RIGHT players to enhance what we already have. If that means 1 quality player vs 5 or 6 dross, I'm happy with that. Remember, we have very good players already at the club, player who did an invincible treble not so very long ago.

Getting more concerned as the days pass.

I wanted about 3 good quality additions out of this window and right now it looks like we will.be lucky to get one.

BR on transfer news: "Nothing to report as of yet. A lot of work going on behind the scenes to try and ensure we bring in the right quality to help us move forward."
