Aye.. we need to start planning for life after DD..

 

Brendan saying he only wants to add quality not squad fillers. Well signing a young, attacker from the lower leagues who looks like he would struggle to displace Ryan Christie never mind our actual first picks and a 31 y/o CB who appears to have spent the last few seasons as a squad player and who seemingly couldn't get anywhere near the first team at his last club would suggest otherwise.

We want quality to take us up a level then we'll need to pay for it. Signings like the ones above are not what we need. If Rodgers is holding out for proven quality then we could be waiting a very long time. Time to splash some cash Celtic!

A youth prospect and a CB who played 26 games last season for the second best team in germany , a team far far far better than celtic.

 

The anger and burning rage at our lack of activity has subsided to an acceptance now!

I will accept the we tried line and the new one the quality wasn’t there as I sit and I await the balance sheet on the interim report and how good we are being run in mid February

 

No point getting yourself worked up on a daily basis between now and next week. Let's just hope we see reinforcements come in, if they don't I think the outcry will be bigger than any previous disappointing windows before, the board shouldn't underestimate that feeling.

 

With Brendan's repeated assertion that January, is our most important window, the lack of activity is baffling..

Not to mention the "revolving door" and his whole attitude has changed in his media duties isnt like him tbh

 

Tbf Morgan will be aamost 22 by the time he joins us, hardly a youth prospect.
Compper may have made 26 appearances for RB last season but realistically he is at best a journeyman CB who, at 32, has made less than 300 appearances his entire career.
Without writing either off they are hardly inspiring additions.

 

Why does everyone love to use the phrase journeyman these days? 5 clubs including Celtic over a 15 year period, hardly a journeyman when on average he's moved clubs every 3 years

 

Morgan to me is a squad player for next season - Sinclair, Forrest, Hayes, Morgan for the wide positions.
With Roberts loan finished, that is a serious lack in quality overall. We've seen how short we are with injuries to even Roberts this season, what if next year Forrest takes an injury, or simply doesn't keep up his current good form? Need better.
No slight on Morgan, but surely he isn't seen as the direct replacement to Roberts? That aint strengthening at all.

Commper, time will tell if he has what it takes to help us in Europe, next season. But that is a big risk considering his age and lack of game time recently. Doesn't help us at all for the Zenit game, or long term. Perhaps will help bring on Ajer and even help Jozo and Boyata, but it again isn't a real sign of squad strengthening at all. Not long term anyway.
With him not being available for Zenit, the question "whats the point?" is rightly asked. And we can surely only assume for the help of development of the likes of Ajer. Because we really don't need that sort of player/age/experience for the SPFL league runs.


Keeper we desperately need replaced, but clearly won't happen this window. But by * we better address this come summer.
A long term partner for CB is a must, a creative outlet in the No10 or RW (roberts replacement) also key this windo. That is before we discuss the departure of Dembele sometime in the next week - 6months and the replacement we need there.

 

Another youth prospect! He's no better than Christie, in fact I would say Christie is better and he can't get a game for us. Granted Compper could turn out be an improvement on our current crop but taking his lack of involvement this season, age and the fact he's ineligible for our Europa it's hardly inspiring , in fact it's totally uninspiring and I get the feeling you know that and are just playing devil's advocate.

 

Better get moving if we’re signing anyone else.

You’d like to think Rodgers and the board had already identified players well before January. So the fact that it’s taking so long is pretty concerning.

 

Fair play, journeyman was the wrong term to use. I guess what I meant was that throughout his career hes, what looks Like, never really nailed down a regular spot outside of a couple of seasons, albeit for various reasons, and on average made less than 20 appearances a season.
I repeat, not writing him off, just not excited at this point.

 

Starting to think the reason there's no real rumours coming out of Celtic is because there isn't that much activity going on behind the scenes, we really need to pull the finger out with only 6 days left. If we don't sign anyone that improves us and end up taking a doing off Zenit then serious questions will need to be asked.
