But we aren’t reliant on CL money. We can afford £4m or 2 every season.

We make massive profit when we make CL groups last season expenditure was obviously higher with bonus payments etc

That * me off no end when some of our fans use that as some sort of reasoning to not push the boat out, just a little more than we currently do.

Wages are accoutned for in the wage budget, which is a seperate expenditure in our finances. We can't add it on twice in our books. We can't see the financial report of money spent on players, then wages, and then come to a transfer window and say we can't sign a £4m player because he will be on a wage that will be X amount over a 4 year period.

As rest of your post alludes to, there should be money available and surely pushed out on. GK, CB, No10 all needed right now. On top of that, replacements for Paddy and Dembele should be getting at least earmarked for the summer time (though not budgeted for yet).
I really don't see why we can't be looking at 2 players at the £3-5m range and on a wage of £20-30k as in the case of Ntcham and Sinclair. Clearly that talent is out there, and * that is coming from the EPL of all * places. A league we routinely like to insist on staying clear of because it is over inflated. If those are inflated prices, just imagine what we would be able to unearth for £4million out of Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Holland...

You don't * say. But i bet our outgoing are a lot less than Barca and a lot more than Newry. Or is it that too hard to understand? Some clubs make more than others?

It is if you can't afford it. Basic * economics and budgeting. But they don't teach you that on Football Manager do they?
Don't you understand that when you make 10 apples and you have to use 8 apples to live that means you have 2 apples left? You can't then spend another 14 apples on the Football Manager lifestyle.

Was told years ago by a guy who worked at Parkhead it’s actually cheaper to just leave them, than turn on and off for each game.

Anyway the January window is notorious for poor deals and rip offs, no one is gonna let a good player go halfway thru the season without serious issues so I’m frankly not too bothered if we do no business now. However anything less than a gross £20 million spend in the summer will be unacceptable. Board can’t play the broke card any more. On average we spend about 10 million a year as is, plus the Van Dijk money and presumably another 20-40 million for Dembele, Armstrong, Rogic whoever we may sell... we’re I think as cash rich as we’ve ever been.

I’m no lighting engineer but I imagine it’s due to the sheer size of the screens and length of time it takes for them to heat up

Totally get what you are saying about apples and pears but how many clubs spend 15 apples and only have 10 means they owe 5 apples they aren’t going to get shut down owning 5 apples or in problems different if you are going for 55 apples

People choose not to see the £24m in the bank, they choose not to see that we will add to that slush fund this season. They choose to see across the city and are spooked by it! Different situations we have very saleable assets of every required but we wouldn’t use more money that our turnover could handle

Have you read the financial statement? I don't think many * in here have. It's not great reading if you understand money and how a business runs.

With the CL we made a BEFORE tax profit of £6.9million. That INCLUDES the CL money of what..... £20million or so?
    Running costs up by 33%.
    £14million on player acquisitions.

Jesus wept people. Look at the * numbers. Use a calculator if you have to!

Well, according to CQN it costs a total of £800k a year to maintain Celtic Park.

I did read the accounts and we made a smaller profit due to money being placed in another “pot” i direct you to page 33 I think of the accounts and we have money sitting at surplus of £24m.

Our operating costs increased due to success of the football club. Peter Lawwell received a £800k solidarity payment in addition to his £1.2m salary.

Also more profit = greater corporation tax.

Is it a pre requisite of a football business to be constantly in profit.

Tell me this what is your anticipated calculations of the interim accounts for year end 31st December 2017?

Looking at the figures involved I would hazard a guess at a £10m plus interim profit from this account period alone.

End year I would expect circa £8m operating profit or greater considering CL money has gone up profit on disposal of assets £7.5m from VVD - to date transfer spending in the same period was in excess of £9m last season same period £7m this year. What we have spent in terms of net transfers has been covered by the VVD money.

We will have more incomes from UEL not to mention the 3 best selling strips in our history.

I fully expect merchandising to have increased.
I fully expect operating expenses to decrease.
I fully expect turnover to increase

And that’s before we spend a penny in January if we do spend anything and if Moussa signs for someone and we don’t sign anyone or start building the hotel and museum then the turnover will exceed £100m!

But am just a management accountant nothing else

    Spot on.

To be honest its pointless even debating to him about it, I don’t know how many times I have brought up our financial reality. Many out there including him continue to perputate the agenda that we don’t have money and can’t afford him etc. The indoctrination is entrenched in the support.

The truth doesn’t care about his agenda.
