BRENDAN RODGERS has warned Celtic’s rivals they’ll become even STRONGER this month.

The Hoops boss is not worried about losing key players in the transfer window, with bids expected for Moussa Dembele and also Jozo Simunovic.

Asked if there was a danger they could be sold late, leaving no time to sign their replacement, he said: “I haven’t even thought about that because I don’t see it happening. My idea for this month is to strengthen, so I haven’t thought of losing anyone.

“If something came in that was difficult for the club and if the player wants to go then that’s another point.

“I’d never want a player at Celtic if he didn’t want to be there.

“Most importantly I would need the right replacement to come in.”

Rodgers has a creative No 10 at the top of his target list as the squad return from their training camp in Dubai.

He added: “I feel it was a great coaching week.

“That’s important for us because we have virtually been playing, recover, playing, recover. And you lose that real valuable coaching time.

“I still feel that in all aspects we can improve and be better. That starts from defensively.

“That’s a key focus on us this week in relation to how we work and the intensity in which we play.

“We are looking to create and grow the players individually and make them better.

“When you work or play for Celtic the pressure is a privilege and lets you know you’re at a big club.

“There’s no doubt this year the target on the players’ backs has been bigger for most teams.”

I really can’t be * listening to sound bites of him saying he’s happy to go with what we’ve got, yes the SPFL is a given but that Zenit mob could give us a right going over with some of the quality they have. The fans can see we need strengthening in key areas so surely Brendan does.

 

I don’t think he does, hope he proves us wrong.

 

He has set himself up for a big fall if we don’t bring in another 2 or 3 with the revolving door comment!

3 injuries season before last, 1 a long one and pre season a calf injury after....which is what he's picked up with us as well..

 

If his comments are anything to go by, we won’t be bringing in another centre-half in this window. * me. I can’t wait to hear the same sound bites about this being an important transfer window for us in the summer, only to be let down again.
