Stuart Armstrong

If I had to choose between McGregor and Armstrong, I'd pick McGregor purely because he at least looks like he's going to try his * off even if not's happening for him. Armstrong just kind of gives up if it's not going his way i.e. PSG, Anderlecht etc.

I like Armstrong and when he's on form he is a top notch player. He's going to be a mainstay of the Scotland national team for quite a while. But he is no where near the form that he showed last season. Admittedly you can say that about a lot of players this season but Armstrong is the most glaring example. I don't know if the summer contract saga messed with his head or what but it was always strange how he signed a two year deal instead of the standard three or four year extension.

If Southampton really are offering £10 million I would snap their hand off for it. Because based off this season I don't see any evidence that Armstrong will get back to the performance levels of last season any time soon.

Effort is one of the only criticisms I’ve had of McGregor at times this season. I’ve watched him and sometimes his lack of determination to help in defence or win a 50/50 angers me.

 

The latter is spot on..

 

I like Armstrong and in an ideal world he'd stick around but £10m with 18 months left for him would be incredible money.

 

Average player. Agree that he will go for 3m or so to the English championship where he will see out the peak of his career.

 

Personally I hope he stays. When he is on he is such a dynamic player for us. He has been a bit up and down compared to last season with his form this term no doubt about that but for me an important player for us who would be hard to replace in our squad.

Think his contract runs out May 2019..

 

Can’t be right he was in his last 6 months this time last season and signed a one year extension, unless there’s a year addon the club can execute. But I defo remember him being able to talk to clubs last January.

 

Aye signed a 2yr extension in the summer, he could have signed a pre-contract in this window otherwise.

I’m pretty sure it was a year mate, as I definitely remember fans asking why bother.
