The boy knows the league and at £1m ish its a low risk move.

No reason for us to go out and pay circa £5m for centre halves to play in the spl when we will likely have 65-70% of the ball in the majority of our games and very rarely find ourselves on the back foot. Solid, stable defenders who know the league are exactly what we need and Hendry fits that profile and also has significant potential to improve further in the future.

Laughable that people are hitting the panic button when we aren’t even 24 hours into January.

I’d be happy enough with this if we bring in 3 centre backs.

I'd be happy with it aswell just as long as we bring in 3 the fact that we have ajer and we do bring in 3 centre backs then I think boyata will go in summer as by then we would have five centre back at clubs this is if Sviatchenko and simunovic leave in this window of course

Inflation mate. 700k in 1995 isn't really the same as 700k today.

This guy is the CB equivalent of Ciftci. If he is ever signed (knock knock knock) everyone knows how this is going to end.

We need CBs for european football, for the SPFL we could play Griffiths as a CB that probably wouldn't make a difference.

Total hyperbole. The guy is a Scottish talent with potential to be good enough for us.

How can people respect our league when * hit out with statements like that? It’s the equivalent of English * saying their “nan could score in that league”, sheer ignorance.

To be fair, we don't know how this is going to end. People had that mentality when we signed McDonald, Griffiths et al.

He could make the step up. It's not an inspiring signing for the fans, granted. He may still do a job for us though if given the chance.

I'm with you though! I think defence is calling out for some investment and there must be a decent centre back out there for us that can raise the bar. It's unlikely to be Hendry.

He’s only young and it’s a relatively inexpensive transfer.

Worth a punt if Brendan rates him.

    Where are we seeing £1m?

Would be a rip off. Liam Lindsay went for half that and was more experienced in this league as well as having played in a better side that punched above its weight. He is now by all accounts doing well for himself down south. Yet we didn't touch him.

I could see the point in the Morgan transfer..i.dont with this if it happens tbh. Went right off the idea.

    Can't say I'm a fan but he's young I suppose. Liam Lindsay's a far better footballer.

I'm not very impressed with this one. He's 23 this year, so isn't that young. Can't see him improving enough to justify a starting position for us in Champions League

Was on the fence until I read he was 23, if he was 18 then ok but he should be way less 'raw' and far more complete as a player at this stage of his career.

Same age as jozo, half the talent/potential so if we are looking for another CB I hope it's of better quality, more experience

I like him. Wouldn't have any problem selling Erik-Jozo (for the right price) and replacing them with Compper-Hendry. The way I see it, Ajer should be starting every game. We then have Compper-Boyata-Bitton (+ Lustig) battling it out for one position. Hendry would provide cover as 4th-5th choice centre-half. Given that he is a young Scottish talent, I'm more than fine with that.

I think most of you guys underestimate Ajer. Kid is oozing with potential. He has already proven he is more than ready to contribute straight away. What's the point in signing 2 experienced centre-halves to play ahead of him (Compper and someone else)?

Who underestimates ajer? And I think we would need another qualith CB if we sell jozo and Erik because if ajer and say commper/boyata get injured then we are low on cb's. Being said I would like to offload bitton aswell

That's the number 1 reason Simunovic might be sold. Hopefully, Compper-Hendry won't be that injury prone. Barring a major injury crisis we should be fine. We have Lustig as well who can provide some cover.

Regarding Ajer, just saying that imo he is ready to play and he should be starting in every game. If that's the case what's the point in signing 2 established centre-halves? I would do so, only if I didn't have faith in Ajer to make the step up.

Couldn't agree more on Bitton. Far too slow as a defensive midfielder, far too soft as a centre-half. Apparently BR rates him though...

We have quite a high player turnover, so it is probably sensible to have a nucleus of homegrown players, but, as others have said, Liam Lindsay is, or would have been, the better option.

The likes of Tierney, McGregor, Forrest, Christie and Morgan are talented but are less likely to agitate for a move to England in the short- to medium-term than players from abroad, so we can build a team around them. I’m not sure I’d put Hendry in the same bracket as the players above, but I’ve only seen him play in a handful of games against us.
