He could sign a pre-contract now then?

His contract runs out at the end of the season.

If that’s true, have we paid compensation rather than a fee then?

Could do with him joining the squad now, providing competition for Sinclair!

I think we will bring in another winger anyway, so not concerned about loaning him back.

    Makes perfect sense.

No it’s a fee as it is done while he is still under contract but under 23 moving in the same association can incur various issues and substantial fees once the contract expiry happens.

We did it with moussa we signed him for a development fee of £500k whereas had he moved within England I would have costs £6m

Sorry, I genuinely don’t know, what issues?

And Moussa was a Free Agent, was he not? We could have signed Morgan without paying a fee, no?

I’m not saying we shouldn’t pay St.Mirren a fee/compensation but did we have to? Why couldn’t he just sign a pre-contract now?

No if you are under 23 you are not free the club you sign for must pay a development fee which if moving in the same association is higher than a cross border transfer.

The issues could be agent fees, schooling and education fees and the selling club vastly overinflated fees for the player and fee would be set by a tribunal which incurs costs to the buying club.

As moussa was 20 we had to pay the development cross border fee which is a fraction of the fee.

As he is under 23 he cannot sign a pre contract with us as it’s the same association and we would have ended up having to pay st Mirren the fee anyway.

Also ensures us we own the player before his stock rises as a pre-contract also isn’t a legally binding contract, either party can withdraw from a pre-contract.

So if moussa goes under age 23 we must pay a fee to PSG and Fulham as a development fee also

only seen bits and bobs of him seems to know where the net it though. We need players for the first team right now though.

its hard to criticise Brendan (The Messiah) in my eyes on course for b2b treb never been done, but he has been too loyal to some players and some he has signed not played them such as kouassi, hayes and ntcham(must start vs hun there) up there with sinclair and dembele for signing would have ran it.. mgregor is merely an impact player at best not a mainstay

Just saw Jack Ross talking about him there. He talks very well and has worked wonders for St Mirren.

Refreshing to hear a young Scottish manager speak articulately and with intelligence as opposed to the usual slavering nonsense we're subjected to.

Would be very comfortable sending youngsters to him on loan in the future.

Regarding Morgan, he looks talented and, as someone pointed out, equally comfortable on either foot.

Paying a transfer fee and instead of paying a development fee means the Huns can't try claim some of the money.

Aye basically we would have paid a fee to Fulham and PSG and we will need to do it again.

Cannae see it mate, BR rates Jack Ross very highly, more likely to be joining our staff prior to BR leaving after the 10.

Debating about us paying 300k.....we're no Sevco.

The lad is as comfortable with either foot which will be a nightmare for fullbacks as Lewis will be able to go inside or out.
