Neil Warnock is exactly the type of clueless football dinosaur I'd expect to be subjected to if I listened to Talksport.

I heard that interview pretty sure he said something along the lines of... he wouldn't sign Griffiths because he needs to know a player's work rate or some bullshit like that but he did say Griffiths is the best finished up here.

The manager was also asked about the imminent transfer of Virgil van Dijk from Southampton to Liverpool for a fee reported to be in the region of £75million. The former Celtic defender missed out on a move to Anfield in the summer, but now that the transfer is set to go through on January 1, the Hoops boss said that the Dutchman is going to a great club.

“He went on to a really good club in Southampton at the time and got some Premier League experience,” Brendan Rodgers said. “Now he’s gone on to Liverpool and I’m sure he’ll show the Liverpool supporters what a good player he is.

“He’s the most expensive defender in the world but I think that football prices now are on the up and obviously there’s more money in the game. He can’t worry about that. He just has to go and work and play, and I’m sure he’ll do very well.

“It’s obviously great for Virgil because he’s gone to a brilliant club where every aspect of you as a player is tested – how you cope under pressure, and the microscope now goes on to him in every game he plays, but he looks a great talent. He’s gone on to a great club and hopefully he’ll prove that.”

As good as VVD was for us, I can't help but think he's set up for failure at Liverpool given the lack of protection given to the Liverpool back four. Not to mention the pressure that will come with that price tag! Hope I'm wrong though!

Think he'll be great for Liverpool next season when they have keita but Liverpool are 2nd joint most clean sheets at 9 in 1st it's 10 with a few teams. I think he'll be a great signing.

Wan of the Huns in work the other day was saying aye ye get yer £7.5m for VVD then Groengien, Willem II get a cut of that then the sfa are due 5% then you have to pay VAT on it so celtic will get about £500k - I just started laughing!

Exactly the payments to the Dutch teams must be paid off the £75m which I imagine will be minimal if not zero as he is over 23. The vat is of no issue due to expenditures. * are stupid!
