So does that mean that any potential fee we receive from a future sale goes in with what we received for his transfer fee?
i.e. he sold for (I think) £12.5m, so with the future sell on fee it goes to the best part of £20m?

 

Definitely the best player post-Larsson to have played for Celtic. I loved Sammy and Nakamura more, but Virgil was a visible standard above everybody he played against here. Remember some hun tried to tackle him in the 2-0 League Cup Semi Final and quite literally bounced off him

 

So in 2-3 years Ajer goes to Southampton, Liverpool then sign him for 80 million 2 seasons later and we get 10% again

 

We should easily be able to afford the young hun from St Mirren now

 

Remember his first few games for us, he played more like * van *, another 7-8 million for the biscuit tin. Oor biscuit tin is like Victoria hand made biscuits, in comparision, sevco's are like a carrier bag of broken dug biscuits.

 

So do we spend the money this window or wait till the summer? Clubs no we have it and that tends to drive the prices up

Bit more detail on Van Dijk deal. It's £70m, rising to around £75m. Southampton wanted big chunk up front as they plan to be active in January too and want to get an attacker in quickly.

We sold him for 12 million and now Southampton are selling him for over 70. Either we're very bad a getting a good price or the PL just massively inflates players prices, I mean I knew it did but not to this extent.

We can't sell Dembele for less than 30 million.

The days of robbing our best players in the cheap are OVER.

 

We probably could have got more for him at the time but, even though it was only a couple of years ago, fees have went through the roof even more.

I suppose it's always going to be a problem for us. Teams down south will always pay us less than what is perhaps the fair price, because of the standard of our league.

We'll have learned our lesson with Dembele though. A young player with his CV should be going for megabucks.

Liverpool Football Club can confirm they have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Virgil van Dijk.


The Reds have agreed a deal with the south coast club, and the player himself, that will see the 26-year-old defender move to Anfield when the transfer window re-opens on January 1, 2018.

The Netherlands international will be assigned squad number four, upon his arrival at Liverpool.
