Don't mean to stereotype or jinx him but quietly confident Germans make me feel optimistic.
His statement about reading the game and stopping attacks before they begin is definitely what we need playing a high line.
I'm also very excited to see his passing ability which he is confident of because Boyata freaks me out because he's predictable and easily intercepted. I know he's told to play like that and Ronnie was convinced he could teach the whole team to be excellent passers after one years practising. Some players just can't do it. Some of the best defenders in the world play the easy ball to someone who has better feet as soon as possible.

On paper this is a canny signing.

Played at a good level for good clubs all his career, so he comes with a good pedigree. We've really needed a defender with a bit of experience, so this guy will do just fine. It's a positive that he's a left-footer, too.

My thoughts entirely. We need experience in our back 4.

SILVERWARE is the one thing missing from Marvin Compper’s career so far, but the new Bhoy admitted trophies were not the only thing which convinced him to become a Celt. The German defender revealed a former team-mate had previously worked under Brendan Rodgers and spoke highly of the Celtic manager.

The former RB Leipzig defender was unveiled as a Celtic player this afternoon (Wednesday) after agreeing a two-and-a-half deal with the Scottish treble winners, and he will offically join the club on January 1, 2018.

Compper admitted that lifting silverware was something he had yet to experience in his professional career and Celtic’s success and history played a factor in his decision to make the switch. However, he revealed that RB Leipzig goalkeeper, Peter Gulacsi, who played under the manager at Liverpool, heightened his desire to sign for the club.

“First of all, I want to win silverware for Celtic," Compper said. "I think this is what this club is about. For me personally, I want to show the Scottish people that I’m capable of playing for Celtic.

“I was talking to my former team-mate, Peter Gulacsi, who worked with Brendan Rodgers. He said the manager was fantastic with players, has great knowledge of the game and is very good with his preparation. He only had positive things to say about him.”

The 32-year-old German internationalist also said he will be honoured to wear the Hoops and is looking forward to experiencing the world-famous atmosphere at Paradise.

“People are very passionate about football here and that is known all over the world," he said. "The ambience here at Celtic Park cannot be compared to any other stadium in the world. This is one of the parts I’m most looking forward to."
